¼ C oil
½ C popcorn kernels and (get waxed paper ready)
⅓ C sugar
¾ t salt
[TO CLARIFY MAXINE’S RECIPE, THIS IS FROM AN ONLINE RECIPE: Heat oil in a large pot over medium heat. Stir in popcorn kernels and sugar. Cover and shake the pot constantly to prevent sugar from burning. HOT…USE GLOVES! When popping has slowed to once every 2-3 seconds, remove the pot from the heat and shake for a few minutes until the popping stops. NOW…BACK TO MAXINE’S RECIPE…]
Add 3 kernels to test heat. When ‘they’ pop add rest of kernals. When popping starts - shake vigorously till slow down - (HOT - USE GLOVES) Remove when popping stops & pour onto waxed paper - sprinkle w/ salt
NOTE: Actually, I use smaller batches (¼ C kernels or ⅓ ) turn heat down as I go - get less burn -
