Friday, August 15th
Friday, August 15th is the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary. Masses for this holy day of obligation will be at 8:30a.m. and 5:00p.m. School children will attend Mass at 9:45a.m. We will also have a Vigil Mass on Thursday, August 14th at 5:00p.m.
On this great solemnity, the Church declares our belief that Mary has gone before us, body and soul, into heaven. Her entry into Heaven prefigures our own hope of experiencing the same eternal life. In the words of Pope Benedict XVI, “The Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the oldest Marian Feast, returns every year in the heart of summer. It is an opportunity to rise with Mary to the heights of the spirit where one breathes the pure air of supernatural life and contemplates the most authentic beauty, the beauty of holiness. The atmosphere of today’s celebration is steeped in paschal joy.”
August 16th & 17th
On August 16-17, the Archdiocese takes up the Peter’s Pence Collection, which supports the Universal Church and the work of the Holy See, including helping Pope Leo XIV with the funds he needs to carry out his charitable works around the world. The proceeds benefit our brothers and sisters on the margins of society, including victims of war, oppression, and natural disasters. Take this opportunity to join with Pope Leo and serve as a witness of charity. For more information, visit https://www.obolodisanpietro.va/en.html.
August 16th & 17th

Essays on the Sacred, the Scriptural, and the Sacramental by Flynn Mudd
Hello! My name is Flynn Mudd and I am the new Director of Formation and Evangelization. I help lead all of our Formation programs, whether they be part of the school or parish, providing opportunities for all who come to St. Albert for spiritual engagement and to develop a greater sense of Catholic identity. I just started so I am still learning new faces and names, but it already has been a great joy working here. Please pray for me. Be assured of my prayers for you!
If you are like myself, then you absolutely love when holidays and celebrations occur. Easter, Christmas, birthdays, Fourth of July; when it is time to celebrate, IT IS TIME TO CELEBRATE! These past Sundays have been especially festive, considering that there have been special Solemnities that have trumped the Sunday of the Liturgical Season: Pentecost, Trinity Sunday, The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ (Corpus Christi), and Saints Peter and Paul. But what happens when there is nothing to celebrate, or we don’t have anything special to celebrate? While the rest can be nice, it sometimes can leave us feeling bored out of our minds. Instead of waiting for the next big thing, it's always good for us to take a step back and get spiritually refreshed. This is where Ordinary Time comes into play.
Ordinary Time, from the typical edition of the Latin Missal Tempus per annum (time throughout the year), allows us to focus on the entirety of Christ’s mystery of salvation for us, rather than focus on a distinct aspect of it, such as his birth, passion, or Resurrection. It is often a time where we as Catholics can have a sort of reset in our life, permitting us to focus on building good habits to create solid spiritual foundations. In a real sense, it is a time to encounter the living Lord in “Ordinary” moments.
I encourage us all to find some way to deepen our relationship with the Lord in simple ways. Perhaps you can spend some extra quiet time with Jesus in prayer as you are getting ready for the day, setting aside time to read Sacred Scripture, or picking up that rosary to pray.
Just like with a new sport, our Faith has to take practice. We won’t reach the level of perfection with our relationship with the Lord immediately, but we can start to head there, one step at a time.
Happy Ordinary Time!
Flynn Mudd
Director of Formation and Evangelization

10am-1pm Workshop (9:45am Gathering)
St. Albert Parish Life Complex
Looking to deepen your prayer life? Join us for an Introductory Centering Prayer Workshop, presented by Contemplative Outreach Louisville.
Centering Prayer is a centuries-old Christian contemplative practice rooted in silence and stillness. This method of prayer prepares us to receive the gift of God’s presence within, helping us grow in intimacy with Christ through quiet communion.
The workshop introduces the method of Centering Prayer as both a spiritual discipline and a path to deepen your relationship with God. It’s not meant to replace other forms of prayer, but to enrich them—helping us move from conversation with God to resting in God.
Six optional follow-up sessions will be offered to support your continued practice.

Beginning September 8
10:00 a.m. – 11:30a.m. | PLC
The Bible is full of passages about angels who are sent to accomplish God’s will. Angels speak for God, direct the course of nations, and protect God’s people. They worship God and deliver God’s judgment. In Angels in the Bible, Fr. George Smiga examines some of the Bible’s most fascinating passages about angels, exploring their ministry on God’s behalf and drawing insights for our own spiritual lives. Because angels are mediators of God’s presence and action, studying angels is studying God. Commentary, study and reflection questions, prayers, and access to online lectures are included. 6 lessons. Please RSVP to Debbie Shearn by email no later than August 11th at dkshea01@hotmail.com.

We need at least 20 people to make reservations to get the group discount rate of $40. If you make your check for $40, include a $5 bill just in case there aren’t 20 people and we each owe $5 extra. If you make your check for $45 and we have enough people for the group rate, there will be no refund for the difference, according to DDP. It will be a fun day! Go to the DDP website to get more information on the play.
