2023 Catholic Higher Education Collection

On the weekend of September 16-17 our parish will take up the annual collection for Catholic higher education. Catholic colleges and universities strive to form students in the spirit of faith and educate them in the richness of the Catholic intellectual tradition. This collection supports the Catholic University of America as well as the two Catholic universities in our Archdiocese - Bellarmine University and Spalding University.

EUCHARISTIC REVIVAL

Jesus Christ invites us to return to the source and summit of our faith in the celebration of the Eucharist. The National Eucharistic Revival is a movement to restore understanding and devotion to this great mystery by helping us renew our worship of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

Watch Presence on Formed!

PRESENCE: THE MYSTERY OF THE EUCHARIST. With beautiful film-making, the PRESENCE explores the truth and beauty of Christ’s real presence in the Eucharist, from its origins in Sacred Scripture, to its profound role in the life of the Church and her members.

LIFELONG FORMATION & EDUCATION

RCIA Program Needs Help

Our next session of RCIA ( Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is right around the corner. This season we will have the largest group of adults inquiring about our faith, that we have ever had at St. Albert. Very exciting times!, but the team needs some help and NO this is not about attending every weekly meeting from October thru March!

We are looking for folks who would help with organizing refreshments for parts of our meetings. We need some help in organizing two simple dinner meetings we have planned. We need some help in finding sponsors, with emphasis on active parishioners with school age children to match with similar inquirers. We need someone to coordinate service projects for the inquirers to be involved in.

Our goal is to immerse this group into Parish Life as soon as we can, and to get them involved in Parish Activities and Service Work.. You may not know it, but you and the entire Parish Community are part of the RCIA program as well. When we as a community of believers come together to celebrate the Eucharist and do good works, we represent the true meaning of RCIA. You set the example for them to follow.

Simply put... we need them... and they very much need us!

If you are moved to help in this ministry, please call Steve Teaford- 502-523-0153 or email at steve.teaford@gmail.com

New RCIA Group Forming

Thursday evenings at 7pm beginning in October.

RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) is a program for adults who wish to become Catholic. We offer an opportunity to come together in a small group to learn more about the Catholic faith. Sessions focus on the scriptures, teachings and experience of the Church and prepare individuals to celebrate the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist during the Easter season. You are welcome to participate in the process with your questions, your insights and your faith story in a warm accepting setting. You will be accompanied on your spiritual journey by a Catholic sponsor who is there to help answer questions and support you. For information please contact Deacon Mark Preischel at 297-2406. Sessions take place on Thursday evenings from 7:00-8:30pm in the Sacred Heart Center.

SOCIAL CONCERNS

"For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, a stranger and you welcomed me..." Matthew 25:35

Loaves & Fishes

Thank You!

St. Ignatius Martyr Food Pantry's shelves were bare and our food donations were very appreciated!

According to a 2021 report from the Greater Louisville Project, 12.9% of Louiville residents and nearly 1 in 5 children experience food insecurity. Many of them do not qualify for federal food assistance and depend on the charitable sector or other non-governmental sources to meet their food needs. Thank you for helping to feed our neighbors!

Waterstep Shoe Collection

Thank You!
Thank you to everyone at St. Albert who so generously donated shoes for this year’s WaterStep shoe drive. It was another tremendously successful campaign! Your donations will help provide clean water for many people. Thank you from the Social Concerns Committee, our Grade School, Prep Program and the people at WaterStep.

Saint Vincent de Paul

In this weekend's Gospel, Jesus says: “…where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

Is there a family you know who needs assistance? Please call the Society of St. Vincent de Paul so that together we help them to know that indeed “God is in the midst of them.”

PASTORAL CARE

Markey's Group

The next gathering of Markey’s group will take place on September 19th at Bristol Bar & Grill East located at 300 North Hurstbourne Parkway. We will meet at the restaurant at 5:00pm. We move to a different location each month in order to give us a variety of dining experiences. We are always open to new members. You will find a warm and inviting group of friends. If you plan to attend the dinner at Bristol, please contact Mike Ahrens by phone or text at (502) 836-7847. We ask that you respond by Monday, September 18th so that we can place our reservation.

St. Albert Ministry Fair

Sunday, September 17th after the 8:00am & 10:30am morning Masses

God has given every member of St. Albert a unique talent or wisdom to share! Come to the St Albert Ministry Fair to learn how you can share the talents you have been given and meet other members who have similar interests to you.

Singing, teaching, community outreach, leadership, cooking, decorating, athletics and many more... find a ministry that needs your enthusiasm. Ask questions about what they do, who they serve, and how to get involved.

Hesitating to volunteer because you are unsure how much time you can give? Talk with ministry volunteers and make sure it’s the right choice for you before you commit.  Ask questions and discover where God is calling you to serve!
