PARISH POST

our mission: TO INSPIRE PEOPLE TO LOVE, SERVE, AND KNOW GOD AND ONE ANOTHER.

February 29 - March 7, 2024

Today, as we add an extra day to the calendar to realign time in the solar year, help us to see the corrections we need to personally make to realign ourselves with you. Help us keep in mind how small deviations can add up over time to put us completely out of sync with your plan for our lives. On Leap Day and Leap Year, help us leap forward by depending on You daily for guidance. Amen.

RCIA and the Scrutinies

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the process by which one explores faith and life in the Catholic tradition. The Rite is modeled after the initiation process used in the first centuries of the early Church and involves a formation process that includes weeks of study, prayer and discernment.

During the 10:30 a.m. Mass on the Third, Fourth and Fifth Sundays of Lent, those who are preparing to be baptized at Easter, known as “the Elect” will participate in special rites of the Church called the Scrutinies. These are important and special rites of the Church. Whenever they are celebrated the Scripture readings of Year A of the liturgical cycle are used.

Please note that, in solidarity with our Elect, during these 3 Sundays of Lent, scripture readings from Cycle A will be used at all of the weekend Masses (we are currently in Cycle B)

Please continue to pray for those who are preparing to join the Catholic Church this Easter.

Youth Choral Festival

Fourteen members of our Advanced Children’s Choir will be participating in the Pueri Cantores Youth Choral Festival and Mass with Archbishop Shelton Fabre at the Cathedral of the Assumption on March 9th. Pueri Cantores is the national student choral organization of the Catholic Church. Hundreds of 4th - 12th graders from the region will combine their voices to sing beautiful music from the Church’s rich historical repertoire. The St. Albert the Great Advanced Children’s Choir will be one of 5 featured choirs singing during a mini concert before the 5:30 p.m. Mass. The concert and Mass are open to the public. Choral music begins at 5:10 p.m. and Mass begins at 5:30 p.m.
