We want to share some important staffing updates from the Parish Office.
First, we extend heartfelt thanks to Laura Graven, our Pastoral Associate, who is retiring after 26 years of devoted service. We are thrilled to welcome Kristina Hellmann, a long-time parishioner and parent, as our new Pastoral Associate starting in June.
To strengthen our Catholic identity, we’re introducing a new position: Director of Religious Education & Evangelization. We are excited to welcome Flynn Mudd, currently serving at Ascension Parish and teaching at Immaculata Classical Academy, to this role this summer.
Rebecca Nash, currently our Parish Administrative Assistant, will step into the new role of Coordinator for Children’s Ministry & Sacraments. Many of you know Rebecca from her warm presence in the parish office.
Debbie Koeberlein, our Faith Formation Assistant for 28 years, will retire in June. While change brings mixed emotions, we look ahead with gratitude and hope. Thank you for your continued support in making St. Albert the Greatest!
It’s almost here—our biggest event and fundraiser of the year! The St. Albert Summer Picnic is better than ever, bringing together our parish and community for a day of food, fun, and fellowship. Join us for live music, raffles & games, bouncies for the kids, adult beverages, and some gambling fun!
This is our chance to showcase how GREAT our parish is to the wider community. But we can’t do it without YOU! It takes a lot of volunteers to make the magic happen.
There’s way too much information to fit in this newsletter, so be sure to check out the full scoop in the Picnic Post. You’ll find everything you need to know and how you can get involved. Let’s make this the best picnic yet!
Fr. Lubecke & Fr. Schultz will be attending the annual Archdiocese of Louisville Presbyterial Assembly the week of June 2nd. We will have a Communion Service on Tuesday, June 3 and Wednesday, June 4 in lieu of daily Mass. Please keep our priests and seminarians of the Archdiocese in your prayers as they help guide the Archbishop in caring for our faith community and making important pastoral decisions.
There will not be Children's Liturgy of the Word on Sunday due to the celebratory lunch.
Happy Ordination Anniversaries!
We joyfully celebrate two special milestones in the lives of our beloved priests: Fr. Chris Lubecke on the 12th Anniversary of his Ordination on May 25, 2013; and Fr. Michael Schultz on the 1st Anniversary of his Ordination on June 1, 2024.
We give thanks for all they do to lead, teach, and walk with us in faith. We invite all parishioners to a special celebratory lunch immediately following the Sunday 10:30am Mass in Visitation Hall (cafeteria). All are invited to come share in the joy of this milestone, offer your prayers and congratulations, and enjoy food and fellowship with Fr. Schultz.
Tuesday, June 10th | 6:15pm | Church
The Louisville Catholic Charismatic Renewal is hosting a charismatic mass at St.Albert the Great Church on Tuesday, June 10th from 6:15pm to 8:30pm. A half hour of Praise and Worship will begin at 6:15pm followed by a time to share any inspirations or messages from the Holy Spirit via open mic. The mass will begin at 7pm. There will be opportunities throughout the mass in congruency with the liturgy to praise Jesus with spontaneous prayer in one’s native language or in tongues (1 Cor 12-14). Come experience the movements of the Holy Spirit in this unique form of worship!
Next weekend (June 7/8) the church will celebrate the great Solemnity of Pentecost. Easter Time comes to its glorious conclusion with this celebration which the Church celebrates 50 days after Easter Sunday. The word, Pentecost, means 50 days or 50th day in Greek. Pentecost is sometimes called the birthday of the Church because it was only after the Apostles were filled with the gifts of the Spirit that they set forth on the mission Christ gave them, to preach the Good News and to baptize all nations.
In honor of this great celebration of the Church, all are invited to wear red which is the liturgical color for this day.
Please note the following changes to our parish Mass schedule beginning the week of July 1st, based on feedback received from the recent Mass time survey:
Monday Mass will move from 8:30am to 12:00pm.
Thursday Mass will move from 8:30am to 12:00pm.
Thursday St. Albert School Mass will now be held at 8:00am.
Saturday Vigil Mass will begin one hour earlier at 4:00pm instead of 5:00pm.
Reconciliation will be offered immediately after Mass on Monday and Thursday; and will move to 2:45-3:45pm on Saturday.
In addition, we are pleased to announce the introduction of First Friday and First Saturday devotions, which will take place on the first Friday and Saturday of each month.
We encourage all parishioners to make attending Mass a priority, as it is the source and summit of our Catholic faith and a vital part of our spiritual life. Thank you for your continued participation and support as we strive to meet the spiritual needs of our parish community.
The postures we take during the Mass contribute to the expression of our prayer and are part of our active participation in the liturgy. The following changes during the distribution of Holy Communion will take place by June 22nd. To read the more about the changes click on the directive from the Archdiocese of Louisville and Archbishop Shelton Fabre.
Posture of the Assembly during the distribution of Holy Communion. The practice will be for the faithful to kneel after the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) and remain kneeling until joining the Communion procession. After receiving Holy Communion, the faithful return to their places and kneel, or sit if unable, for a period of thanksgiving and personal prayer.
Posture of Individuals while receiving Holy Communion. Standing is the norm for the reception of Holy Communion. While standing, the communicant bows his or her head before receiving the Body of the Lord or the Precious Blood.
Manners of Receiving Holy Communion. Communicants may choose whether to receive the consecrated Host in the hand or on the tongue.
May 31st & June 1st
Since 1955, the Archdiocese of Louisville has contributed millions of dollars to the Crusade for Children. This community-wide effort changes the lives of children with special needs, and families and Catholic schools in the Archdiocese have benefited directly from the Crusade. On the weekend of May 31st & June 2nd, our parish will collect donations for this year's Crusade. Those who wish to donate may bring contributions to Mass or to the parish and put the word "Crusade" in the memo line. If giving online, you can credit our parish in the "Additional Details" portion of the giving platform. The online form will ask a question about crediting a fire department. Answer no and then the form will populate a question about crediting a Catholic parish. With a yes answer to that question, the online form provides a drop-down menu of parishes.
If you would like to offer up in prayer an intention at the Father’s Day Masses this year, envelopes are due by Sunday, June 8th.
Our next Baptisms will be held on Sunday, July 13th during 10:30am Mass; and Sunday August 17th at 12:00pm following Mass. If you are interested in having your child baptized, please contact the parish office at 425-3940.
June 29th | 10:30am | SHC

Our June 1st food collection will be going to St. Ignatius Martyr Food Pantry. They are in particular need of cleaning supplies such as dishwashing liquid, laundry detergent, all-purpose cleaners; and hearty canned goods such as chili, stews, pork & beans, canned fish (tuna, salmon), canned meat (chicken, vienna sausages). Please leave items in the back of church before noon on Sunday, June 1st. Thank you for supporting the Loaves & Fishes Ministry and for helping to eliminate food insecurity in our local community!
We are currently seeking compassionate volunteers to serve as Homebound Ministers for Communion. This meaningful ministry brings the Eucharist and a sense of connection to those in our parish who are unable to attend Mass due to illness, age, or mobility issues. If you feel called to share your faith in this special way and can commit to visiting on the weekend or as needed, please contact Laura Graven at 425-3940. Training will be provided. Your presence could be a powerful reminder of God’s love and our parish community’s care!
