And behold, the star that they had seen at its rising preceded them, until it came and stopped over the place where the child was. They were overjoyed at seeing the star, and on entering the house they saw the child with Mary his mother. They prostrated themselves and did him homage. Then they opened their treasures and offered him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh. Matthew 2:9-11

A pictorial directory is a powerful tool in our church to help each of us know each other better. Our last directory is now out-dated and it is time for a new one. We want everyone to get a new picture made so that our new directory will be complete. IT WON’T BE COMPLETE WITHOUT YOU! Your participation will help the church and yourself. Every family photographed for the directory will receive a copy of the directory and an 8x10 portrait at no cost. Sign up for your session here! Photo dates are: Feb. 13-15; Feb. 17-19; Feb. 27 - March 1, 2025. You will have a professional photography session, see your proofs, and have the opportunity to purchase extra portraits for family and friends.
The Feast of Epiphany is the traditional time for the blessing of homes. Chalk is used to mark the symbols 20 + C + M + B + 25 on the lintel of the doorway. We use chalk to remind us of the dust of the earth from which God created us. The numerals represent the current year and the letters represent the first initials of the Magi, traditionally known as Caspar, Melchior and Balthasar. The letters also stand for Christus Mansionem Benedicat which means “May Christ bless this house”. These symbols are separated by four crosses.
The following prayer may be said: Lord God of heaven and earth, you revealed your only begotten Son to every nation by the guidance of a star. Bless this house and all who inhabit it. Fill them with the light of Christ, that their concern for others may reflect your love. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
Fr. Schultz will bless chalk at this weekend's Masses. Take a blessed chalk kit home with you after Mass this weekend! We will also have a small treat for children by the three kings in our nativity scene. The school will bless their classroom doorways next week.

Electronics Recycling
Maybe you got some new electronic devices as gifts this year. Wonderful! But what do you do with the old ones? That’s where our friends at Greenway Shredding and Recycling come in. You can take all your old electronics (and batteries too) to them at 2318 Watterson Trail in J-town and they will gladly recycle those devices for free. It’s a win-win, both for you and the environment. Of course, you can recycle electronics there any time of the year. I’m sure you will enjoy your new electronics even more knowing you’ve disposed of your old ones responsibly. Remember, you do make a difference, please make it a positive one! Thanks, Environmental Ernie
