We want to share some important staffing updates from the Parish Office.
First, we extend heartfelt thanks to Laura Graven, our Pastoral Associate, who is retiring after 26 years of devoted service. We are thrilled to welcome Kristina Hellmann, a long-time parishioner and parent, as our new Pastoral Associate starting in June.
To strengthen our Catholic identity, we’re introducing a new position: Director of Religious Education & Evangelization. We are excited to welcome Flynn Mudd, currently serving at Ascension Parish and teaching at Immaculata Classical Academy, to this role this summer.
Rebecca Nash, currently our Parish Administrative Assistant, will step into the new role of Coordinator for Children’s Ministry & Sacraments. Many of you know Rebecca from her warm presence in the parish office.
Debbie Koeberlein, our Faith Formation Assistant for 28 years, will retire in June. While change brings mixed emotions, we look ahead with gratitude and hope. Thank you for your continued support in making St. Albert the Greatest!
It’s almost here—our biggest event and fundraiser of the year! The St. Albert Summer Picnic is better than ever, bringing together our parish and community for a day of food, fun, and fellowship. Join us for live music, raffles & games, bouncies for the kids, adult beverages, and some gambling fun!
This is our chance to showcase how GREAT our parish is to the wider community. But we can’t do it without YOU! It takes a lot of volunteers to make the magic happen.
There’s way too much information to fit in this newsletter, so be sure to check out the full scoop in the Picnic Post. You’ll find everything you need to know and how you can get involved. Let’s make this the best picnic yet!
June 9th | St. Francis of Assisi
St. Francis of Assisi and Our Lady and St. John churches will host a series of evening liturgies — each in a different rite or form.
A brief introduction to the rite or form will be given at 5:15pm, followed by Mass at 5:30pm. A Q&A with the celebrating priest will follow. The Masses will highlight both the variety and universality of the worldwide Catholic Church. All are invited to join Fr. Schultz for Mass to learn more about the Romanian Rite.
Following is the schedule:
June 9 — Romanian Rite celebrated by Father Michael Schultz.
June 10 — Syro-Malabar Rite celebrated by Father George Munjanattu.
June 11— Maronite Rite celebrated by Father Patrick Dolan.
June 12 — Ukrainian Rite celebrated by Father Jim Frasier.
June 13 — Ordinariate Form of the Roman Rite celebrated by Father Jonathan Erdman.
All Masses will be celebrated at St. Francis of Assisi Church, 1960 Bardstown Road.
Tuesday, June 10th | 6:15pm | Church
The Louisville Catholic Charismatic Renewal is hosting a charismatic mass at St.Albert the Great Church on Tuesday, June 10th from 6:15pm to 8:30pm. A half hour of Praise and Worship will begin at 6:15pm followed by a time to share any inspirations or messages from the Holy Spirit via open mic. The mass will begin at 7pm. There will be opportunities throughout the mass in congruency with the liturgy to praise Jesus with spontaneous prayer in one’s native language or in tongues (1 Cor 12-14). Come experience the movements of the Holy Spirit in this unique form of worship!
This weekend (June 7/8) the church will celebrate the great Solemnity of Pentecost. Easter Time comes to its glorious conclusion with this celebration which the Church celebrates 50 days after Easter Sunday. The word, Pentecost, means 50 days or 50th day in Greek. Pentecost is sometimes called the birthday of the Church because it was only after the Apostles were filled with the gifts of the Spirit that they set forth on the mission Christ gave them, to preach the Good News and to baptize all nations.
In honor of this great celebration of the Church, all are invited to wear red which is the liturgical color for this day.
Please note the following changes to our parish Mass schedule beginningMonday June 30th, based on feedback received from the recent Mass time survey:
Monday Mass will move from 8:30am to 12:00pm.
Thursday Mass will move from 8:30am to 12:00pm.
Thursday St. Albert School Mass will now be held at 8:00am.
Saturday Vigil Mass will begin one hour earlier at 4:00pm instead of 5:00pm.
Reconciliation will be offered immediately after noon Mass on Monday and Thursday and will move to 2:45-3:45pm on Saturday.
In addition, we are pleased to announce the introduction of First Friday and First Saturday devotions, which will take place on the first Friday and Saturday of each month.
We encourage all parishioners to make attending Mass a priority, as it is the source and summit of our Catholic faith and a vital part of our spiritual life. Thank you for your continued participation and support as we strive to meet the spiritual needs of our parish community.
The postures we take during the Mass contribute to the expression of our prayer and are part of our active participation in the liturgy. The following changes during the distribution of Holy Communion will take place by June 22nd. To read the more about the changes click on the directive from the Archdiocese of Louisville and Archbishop Shelton Fabre.
Posture of the Assembly during the distribution of Holy Communion. The practice will be for the faithful to kneel after the Agnus Dei (Lamb of God) and remain kneeling until joining the Communion procession. After receiving Holy Communion, the faithful return to their places and kneel, or sit if unable, for a period of thanksgiving and personal prayer.
Posture of Individuals while receiving Holy Communion. Standing is the norm for the reception of Holy Communion. While standing, the communicant bows his or her head before receiving the Body of the Lord or the Precious Blood.
Manners of Receiving Holy Communion. Communicants may choose whether to receive the consecrated Host in the hand or on the tongue.
If you would like to offer up in prayer an intention at the Father’s Day Masses this year, envelopes are due by this Sunday, June 8th.
Our next Baptisms will be held on Sunday, July 13th during 10:30am Mass; and Sunday August 17th at 12:00pm following Mass. If you are interested in having your child baptized, please contact the parish office at 425-3940.

Thank You!
Thank you for your generous donations to the St. Ignatius food pantry. As you can see from the photo their shelves were bare and they were in great need of the food you donated! Food insecurity significantly impacts our local community and often disproportionately affects vulnerable populations like children and the elderly. Jesus emphasized the importance of caring for the poor and feeding the hungry throughout his teachings. “For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat... Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of these least brothers of mine, you did for me.” Matthew 25:35-40
We are currently seeking compassionate volunteers to serve as Homebound Ministers for Communion. This meaningful ministry brings the Eucharist and a sense of connection to those in our parish who are unable to attend Mass due to illness, age, or mobility issues. If you feel called to share your faith in this special way and can commit to visiting on the weekend or as needed, please contact Laura Graven at 425-3940. Training will be provided. Your presence could be a powerful reminder of God’s love and our parish community’s care!
