LORD, we lift you up today as the creator of all things. In the beauty of the horses, we see Your hand, in the guiding of the jockeys, we sense Your path, and in the trust of the trainers, let us rest in You. Guide us today as we run this race; keep ourselves safe, true and straight. May Your guiding hand lead us as this journey unfolds. May those who watch admire Your creation and witness Your strength. Protect us this day with Your grace and mercy. Amen. A Kentucky Derby Prayer by Pastor Steve Johnson

It is a great pleasure to announce that it is time to begin the process of identifying new members for the Parish Pastoral Council (PPC). In consultation with the Pastor, the PPC actively listens to and identifies the needs and concerns of the parishioners and develops a parish pastoral plan to respond to these needs working closely with the parish staff. The Council also seeks to implement the plan by seeking the involvement of parishioners.
Potential parishioners should possess the following qualities:
A desire for spiritual growth in themselves and the Parish
An enthusiasm about the future direction of the Parish
A willingness to listen, to speak honestly and to work toward consensus
The ability to inspire and empower others to delegate
Flexibility and openness with people and ideas
What we are asking of you is the following:
Consider if you have the above qualities, and if so, prayerfully consider nominating yourself
Consider others within the Parish that you feel exhibit the above qualities and nominate them (with their approval)
Timeline:
Nomination identification is open until the last information session has been completed; expected to be May 14, 2023
Nomination Sessions - 9:30AM - 10AM
May 7, 2023
May 14, 2023
At these sessions all nominees will learn about the role of the Parish Pastoral Council. After these sessions, all nominees will be asked to reflect and pray on this information and discern whether or not they feel called to the ministry of service and leadership.
New members will be identified on May 28, 2023 at 10:30 Mass, Pentecost Sunday. The new pastoral council members will be blessed by the community on June 4, 2023.
Nominations can be sent to karen.m.b.arndt@gmail.com subject line: PPC Nomination, or can be brought to the Parish office.
Stewardship, quite simply, is recognizing that everything we have and everything we are is a gift from God, and being grateful for and generous with those gifts. Stewardship can be emotional support, hospitality, volunteer time, gifts in kind or monetary. Through gratitude and generosity, we open our heart and invite the Holy Spirit into our life!
Stewardship Renewal forms have been mailed to all parishioners. The form can be returned to the parish office using the included envelope or dropped in the collection basket at Mass. You can find the links to Online Giving at www.stalbert.org Please complete your 2022-2023 Stewardship Renewal form by June 1st.

The church picnic booths will be painted before the picnic. To prepare for the painting, volunteers are needed to sand the rust off of the metal poles. A great group of 12 volunteers sanded the picnic booths, completed one third of it, and we learned that it's going to take more hours than we first expected.
Therefore, we're seeking 20+ volunteers on Wednesday, May 10, from 6-8 PM to help sand the booth poles again. If we have that many people, I think we can complete it! Please sign up at https://www.signupgenius.com/go/10C0D44A8A82BA4F85-sanding1.
Booth Captains set up the game, ask friends to help work a shift, stock booth with prizes from the prize room and clean up the game after the picnic ends. The following dates and booths still need Captains.
Friday, June 16th: Roll a Score
Saturday, June 17th: Plant Booth, Duck Pond, and Horse Dice
