WORDS OF REFLECTION
Use me, God.
Written by
Cindy McKinley
Director of Children's Ministry
Use me, God. Show me how to take who I am, who I want to be, and what I can do, and use it for a purpose greater than myself.
- Martin Luther King, Jr.
When I read the above quote on a calendar, it gave me pause. Instead of New Years’ Resolutions, I think I will reflect on this prayer and do some self-searching on who God is calling me to be - what God is calling me to do.
In working with parents in preparation for their children’s Baptisms, we take time to reflect on how we are living our faith, and that our lives are an example of faith for our children. That through our words and actions, we make God’s love known to our children, to those in our lives. We are made adopted sons and daughters of God through the sacrament of Baptism, and we are given a candle lit from the Paschal (or Easter) candle. And upon receiving the Gifts of the Holy Spirit during Baptism and Confirmation, we are given the mission to take Christ’s light into our world. As beloved sons and daughters of God, “of whom He is well pleased”, we are called for a purpose greater than ourselves.
We need to remember, deep down in our hearts, that we are loved and that we are made for love. Jesus calls us to be light to the world.
“You are like light for the world…make your light shine so that others will see the good that you do and will praise your Father in heaven.”
– Matthew 5:14, 16

A properly executed will is one of the most important papers you will ever sign. Your will ensures that your wishes for your estate and your loved ones are realized.
A will allows you to:
· Provide security for your family.
· Remember loved ones in a tangible way.
· Leave a legacy to your Church.
· Designate who will manage your estate.
· Reduce estate taxes and administration expenses.
Saint Albert the Great and the Archdiocese of Louisville Office of Mission Advancement are offering a complimentary an Estate Planning Information Session on Thursday, February 10th from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at St. Albert the Great in the Parish Life Complex. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth...
but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven...
For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

SOCIAL CONCERNS
Bakhita Empowerment Initiative
Catholic Charities' anti-human trafficking outreach, Bakhita Empowerment Initiative, is named after St. Josephine Bakhita, who survived being trafficked in the Sudan in the late 1800s. One of the best things you can to do fight trafficking is become well informed. We suggest you watch Trafficked in America; Very Young Girls; Not My Life; and OVC Faces of Human Trafficking, all available on YouTube or Amazon Prime.
If you think you see trafficking, call the National Hotline at 888-373-7888.
