WORSHIP
All Saints Day
Wednesday, November 1st is All Saints Day and is a holy day of obligation. Masses are at 8:30 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. (school children will attend at 9:45 a.m.) This feast day has been in existence since 844 when Pope Gregory IV set November 1 for a festival in honor of all the saints.
The saints in heaven give us courage that it is possible to spend our lives being faithful to God and charitable toward each other. They model for us gospel living. St. Bernard of Clairvaux said, “Calling to mind the saints arouses in us above all else a longing to enjoy their company.”
“Let us all rejoice in the Lord and keep a festival in honor of all the saints. Let us join with the angels in joyful praise to the Son of God.” (entrance antiphon, November 1)
All Souls Day
November is the month the church sets aside specifically to honor and pray for those who have died. Every year on November 2nd the church celebrates the Feast of All Souls. It is a special day to remember those who have died and to pray for them. On Thursday evening, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. we will have a special Mass in honor of those who have been buried from our church since November of last year.
Families of our deceased parishioners are invited to attend as well as anyone who has lost a loved one in the last year. Indeed, all are invited to this special Mass to pray for all souls, trusting that God will hear and answer our prayers that the deceased will know eternal light, happiness and peace. At this Mass, names of the deceased from our parish are sung during a special Litany. Other names of those who have passed away since November, 2022 and whose funerals were held at other locations will be spoken during the Litany.
For more information, contact Laura Sullivan, Director of Music and Worship, lsullivan@stalbert.org or 425-3940 ext. 148.
CATHOLIC SERVICE APPEAL
Do This in Memory of Me
The theme of the 2023 Catholic Services Appeal is “Do this in memory of Me.” These words of Jesus, spoken at each celebration of the Eucharist, resonate in the heart of every Catholic. With this invitation, and strengthened by the Eucharist, Jesus invites us to remember Him as we go forth into the world and respond as His disciples to all that we encounter. The annual Appeal gives us an opportunity to do this by living out our archdiocesan mission statement: to proclaim and live the good news of Jesus Christ.
Did you know that funds raised through the Catholic Services Appeal benefit our community directly? Whether responding to human needs, promoting vocations, providing ministry training, evangelizing, or assisting parishes, archdiocesan ministries and services reach beyond the ability of our parish or any other parish to do this work alone. It is the work that Christ has entrusted to His Church. Through our gifts to the annual Catholic Services Appeal, we are partnering in the work Christ has given to the Church.
Make sure to list your parish as St. Alber the Great (044) !
EUCHARISTIC REVIVAL
Jesus Christ invites us to return to the source and summit of our faith in the celebration of the Eucharist. The National Eucharistic Revival is a movement to restore understanding and devotion to this great mystery by helping us renew our worship of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.
The International Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibit
NOVEMBER 4TH & 5TH
IN CELEBRATION OF THE EUCHARISTIC REVIVAL EXPERIENCE THE EXHHIBIT AT SAINT ALBERT BEFORE & AFTER MASS!
The International Eucharistic Miracles of the World Exhibit is a traveling display designed by Blessed Carlo Acutis. It contains an extensive assortment of photographs and historical descriptions of Eucharistic miracles, recognized by the Catholic Church, that have taken place throughout history.
Carlo Acutis was a kind boy who stood up for kids who were bullied, and did voluntary work with the homeless and poor. He was known as a “computer geek” who loved video games, and had a deep devotion to the Eucharist. He developed a website dedicated to the documented and scientifically scrutinized occasions when the Holy Eucharist changed in its physical appearance, reminding us that the bread and wine of the Mass truly become the Body and Blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. He died of leukemia in 2006 and was beatified in 2020. All are welcome!

Answer to the Trivia Question:
Does Jesus die again at every Mass?
A. No The Church teaches that the Mass is a re-presentation “make present” of the sacrifice of calvary not a re-crucifixion of Christ, who does not suffer and die again.
