Dear Parish Family,
The following numbers update you on our past financial and current budget year and show the parish’s normal operating income and expenses. The first two columns show July 2023 through June 2024 and the third column the new budget for July 2024 through June 2025. Also given below are the number of Sacraments celebrated at St. Albert in the past year and the number of registered members in the parish.
Thank you for your financial stewardship, which allows parish finances to be sound. Please consider increasing your tithing this year and moving your tithing to direct bank debit, so that your giving can be consistent. Contact Cheryl Harper in the parish office (x107) to arrange direct debit, or go to the “Online Giving” button on the St. Albert website: www.stalbert.org.
The Finance Council continues to monitor parish finances and conduct internal audits. Please contact a member of the Finance Council if you have any questions: Harry Alexander, Larry Brunner, Mindy Koeberlein, Phil Mattingly, Craig Vermost, and Jim Whelan. We will continue to update you on the financial picture at regular intervals.
Sincerely,
Jim Whelan, Finance Council Chair, whelancj@bellsouth.net
On behalf of the Finance Council, September 2024.
Parish Highlights
July 2023 – June 2024 Highlights
Sunday Tithing was slightly above a very modest budget goal and has been relatively flat for several years.
Other Collections/Gifts include several generous, welcome, but unexpected gifts which were not budgeted. (Including over $100,000 specifically for church renovation).
Expense Recoveries contain insurance recovery for storm and water damages and offset the Parish maintenance and repair expense line.
The Parish Picnic (from over a year ago) enjoyed exceptional weather and exceeded budget expectations.
Several school income and expense lines reflect growing school enrollment.
As is usual, several income and expense lines reflect normal operating variations.
2024 – 2025 Budget Remarks
This budget is conservative but reflects recent increased cost inflation. We hope tithing will increase to meet our rising costs and growing ministries.
Salary expense lines reflect a 3% wage increase in line with Archdiocese guidance.
The parish budget reflects our two new priests, who are living in parish housing.
The school budget reflects strong enrollment and continued good operating performance.
The Parish Balance Sheet numbers at year end show a solid fiscal position.

The Season of Creation is celebrated annually by Christians around the world. It is a time to renew our relationship with our Creator and all His creation. It is a time for prayer, for reflection, for hope, and for action. Those values are embedded in this year’s theme, “To Hope and Act with Creation.”
It is our hope that you will act. Please take time during this season to not only think about the wonders of God’s creation, but to do something positive to help preserve and protect them. And, of course, please remember to pray. The Lord has blessed us greatly through his creation, let us take time to show Him our appreciation. Thanks! This autumn will provide a unique service opportunity for our parish community. In late October, we will participate with four other regional parishes in the construction of a Habitat for Humanity home. A purchaser has been selected to become the recipient of this new property making this project very real and creating a good deal of excitement. We will be making further announcements and calling for volunteers to serve on our parish team. Watch for more details during the month of September.
In this weekend's Gospel Jesus says “If a man wishes to come after me, he must deny his very self, take up his cross, and follow in my steps.” The cross of Jesus and the crosses of his members can evangelize us: the sick, who bear illness with courage; the grieving, who hope against hope; the dying, who clearly trust in the resurrection; the suffering of our poor brothers and sisters who are hungry and homeless, but who still trust in God’s love.
Is there a neighbor or friend of yours who is in temporary need because of a loss of a job or an illness? Please leave a message for the Society of St. Vincent de Paul… we want to help!
