NOTES FROM THE OFFICE

A Message from Your Director of Stewardship and Communications

Dear St. Albert the Great family,

It is with a bitter-sweetness that I announce that I have accepted a new job position at a marketing agency in Middletown. My new position there will be as Marketing Manager. My final day at St. Albert the Great will be Friday, February 4th. As I begin this new chapter, I look back at each of you and say 'thank you'. Thank you for allowing me to serve you these many years. Thank you for welcoming me into your community. Thank you for allowing me the chance to grow alongside this parish, both in my own faith and in my career. I truly thank you all for the immeasurable kindness you have bestowed upon me since I first came to St. Albert in 2017. Thank you.

There is a saying that 'all good things must eventually come to an end'. I have found that that is only partially true. While all good things do eventually end, we still carry those good things with us as we continue on our journeys. Every kind word, generous interaction and friendship forged makes an indelible mark on your heart. And so no matter where life takes you, you remain forever changed and empowered by those good things. And that is what I think of when I think about you, the people of St. Albert the Great. For nearly five years I have called St. Albert my home. It has been a tremendously positive experience getting to know each of you. But, our time together, as all good things, will soon be coming to an end. Please know that though I leave you physically, a piece of me will forever remain here with this community. I have been extremely blessed with the opportunity to be a part of the St. Albert the Great community for such a long time. My well wishes and prayers continue to be with this community, no matter where I may go. And so I leave you with some words and a prayer from my favorite author:

“May the wind under your wings bear you where the sun sails and the moon walks.”

― J.R.R. Tolkien, The Hobbit

Farewell!

Parish Office Looking for Front Desk Volunteers

The Parish Office is in need of additional front desk volunteers to help answer phones, the door, and help with other administrative projects as needed. We are in need of volunteers on Tuesdays and Fridays. A typical example of volunteer hours for someone at the desk is 9:00am-12:00/1:00pm. There is great flexibility in this opportunity and so please don't let a time commitment make you hesitate to volunteer. We will work with your availability.

Our current front desk volunteers love being such an intimate part of the parish and school! If you are interested or have any questions, please contact Cheryl Harper at 502-425-3940 ext. 107 or charper@stalbert.org.

A properly executed will is one of the most important papers you will ever sign. Your will ensures that your wishes for your estate and your loved ones are realized.

A will allows you to:

·        Remember loved ones in a tangible way.

·        Leave a legacy to your Church.

·        Designate who will manage your estate.

·        Reduce estate taxes and administration expenses.

Saint Albert the Great and the Archdiocese of Louisville Office of Mission Advancement are offering a complimentary an Estate Planning Information Session on Thursday, February 10th from 6:00 PM – 7:00 PM at St. Albert the Great in the Parish Life Complex.  All parishioners are invited to attend this informative presentation. Local estate planning experts, Cheryl Brunner and Chris Emison, will be the presenter.

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures upon earth...

Beth Mullins, parishioner at St. Margaret Mary, is recruiting tutors to work with the H.U.G. Reading Program which tutors 2nd and 3rd graders.  They are beginning to work with Archdiocese schools (St. Paul) in February and the Community Catholic Center. They hope to be able to tutor with many more in the future.  The program is free and has proven successful over the last 7 years.

To be a tutor only requires a 6th grade ability to read, to be 18 years and over, and have the desire to work with children. If you are interested in helping parochial school children please email Beth if you have any questions or visit the H.U.G. website to learn more.
