PARISH POST

our mission: TO INSPIRE PEOPLE TO LOVE, SERVE, AND KNOW GOD AND ONE ANOTHER.

May 9 - May 15, 2024

“As a mother comforts her child, so I will comfort you;” Isaiah 66:13

Mary, full of grace, I ask for your intercession today for my earthly mother. Pray for her, and pray that her example of love draws me closer to Your son, not only on Mother’s Day but on all days. Amen. Happy Mother's Day to all women who love and nurture us throughout our lives.

Pentecost

Next weekend (May 18/19) the church will celebrate the great Solemnity of Pentecost. Easter Time comes to its glorious conclusion with this celebration which the Church celebrates 50 days after Easter Sunday. The word, Pentecost, means 50 days or 50 th day in Greek. Pentecost is sometimes called the birthday of the Church because it was only after the Apostles were filled with the gifts of the Spirit that they set forth on the mission Christ gave them, to preach the Good News and to baptize all nations. In honor of this great celebration of the Church, all are invited to wear red which is the liturgical color for this day.

On the weekend of May 18th-19th, our parish will take up donations for the Catholic World Missions Collection, which supports both the Catholic Home Missions and the international missionary agency, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith. Your donations help the Church's missionary work, providing monetary assistance for the pastoral and evangelizing programs of the Church in the United States, Africa, Asia, the Pacific Islands, and remote regions of Latin America. Donations fund the education and support of seminarians, religious novices, and lay catechists; the work of religious communities in education, health care, and social services; communication and transportation needs; disaster and emergency relief when necessary; and the Church’s ministry to children.

2024 Crusade for Children Collection

MAY 25th & 26th

Since 1955, the Archdiocese of Louisville has contributed millions of dollars to the Crusade for Children. This community-wide effort changes the lives of children with special needs, and families and Catholic schools in the Archdiocese have benefited directly from the Crusade. On May 25th & 26th, our parish will collect donations for this year's Crusade. Those who wish to donate may bring contributions to Mass or to the parish and put the word "Crusade" in the memo line. If giving online, you can credit our parish in the "Additional Details" portion of the giving platform. The online form will ask a question about crediting a fire department. Answer no and then the form will populate a question about crediting a Catholic parish. With a yes answer to that question, the online form provides a drop-down menu of parishes.

The Council also seeks to implement the plan by seeking the involvement of parishioners.

STEWARDSHIP

Stewardship Renewal

Stewardship is living a life of gratitude, taking the time every day to recognize the gifts that God has given and to be grateful for them. Stewardship is returning a portion of our gifts to God. The gifts we return are our time, our talent and our treasure. We return these gifts not because it is required, but because we feel an overwhelming need to show our love and gratitude to God, and to support each other on our journey to heaven.

Thank you in advance for your continued support of our parish. It takes all of us —pastor, deacons, laity, members, and children— to live out our Parish Mission to “Know, Love and Serve God and One Another.” Your prayer, participation, and generosity to our community is a blessing!

Stewardship forms are in the mail. Please return your form to the parish office, or email it to stewardship@stalbert.org, before June 1, 2024.
