The Sacred Triduum

The word “Triduum” comes from the Latin word meaning “three days,” and encompasses the three most sacred days in the Church year. It begins at sundown on Holy Thursday, reaches a high point at the Easter Vigil, and concludes with evening prayer at sundown on Easter Sunday. The liturgical celebrations during the Triduum on Holy Thursday, Good Friday, the Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday are rich with symbolism and flow from one to another in a seamless way. While it may appear as if these liturgies are separate and distinct, they are actually intended to be one continuous celebration that commemorates the passion, death and resurrection of Jesus.

Habitat for Humanity

Volunteers will be helping during Raise the Roof for the 2022 Catholic Quartet Build! Over the course of three days, volunteers will work to raise the walls, install window and doors, and sheathe the walls to create the enclosed frame of the house. Some volunteers need to be comfortable on ladders; there will be ground work available as well.

Address:  4408 Ginkgo Trail, 40245

Please arrive at 8:30 a.m. for the safety briefing and check-in.

Please park along the streets near the house and be mindful of neighbors' driveways. Habitat supplies the tools and materials needed for the day's tasks.

If you need to cancel your shift, please do so with enough notice to recruit another volunteer.

Piarist Community of Appalachia

A hearty and heartfelt thank you to all of those who donated clothing and goods for the recent collection benefitting the Piarist Community of Appalachia. As always, the generosity of the St. Albert parish is amazing! Moreover, the following volunteers were invaluable in making the whole project succeed:

Ben Hertel, Jack Oliver, Brady Morgan, Teri Currens and her daughter, Michael Murphy, Alice and Ava Shade, Lynn Long,  and Jenny Steer.

A special shout out to Janice Houk for driving the additional 14' truck and her trusty navigator, Paul Houk. We couldn't do it without Cindy McKinley's effort to recruit volunteers and the guidance of Mary Lynn Thieneman Legel.

Finally, Larry Brunner ordered the 10 Chromebooks requested by the Piarist School after securing the best rate to fit our budget. God is good!

Many thanks to all (including any whose names have been inadvertently overlooked),

Denis and Cathy Roux
