EUCHARISTIC REVIVAL

Jesus Christ invites us to return to the source and summit of our faith in the celebration of the Eucharist. The National Eucharistic Revival is a movement to restore understanding and devotion to this great mystery by helping us renew our worship of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

Holy Communion

Archbishop Shelton Fabre has announced that the Archdiocese will reinstate permission to distribute the Precious Blood to the faithful from the Chalice at weekend Masses on the Feast of Corpus Christi, June 10-11, 2023. Since 1978, the Bishops of the United States have encouraged the distribution of the Precious Blood regularly, noting that this “is the fullest sign and most perfect fulfillment of what the Lord did and directed.” As always, reception from the Chalice is optional and those who are ill, infirm, or have compromised immune systems should be reassured that our Church also teaches that Jesus Christ is truly and wholly present under both species of bread and wine.

St. Albert Eucharistic Procession

SUNDAY, JUNE 11TH, 9:30AM

All are invited to the Saint Albert the Great Eucharistic Procession on Sunday, June 11, 2023 at 9:30 a.m. around the St Albert campus.

The Eucharistic Revival Year kicks off June 10th & 11th with the Solemnity of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. In honor of this great feast day and to rev up our Revival year, we will be having a Eucharistic Procession on Sunday, June 11th between the 8 a.m. & 10:30 a.m. Masses. We will start off in the church at 9:30a.m. and have an outdoor procession that will go around the St. Albert campus. We will come back to church for Benediction at 10:15 a.m.

We would love to have the second graders be a part of the procession and have them wear their First Communion attire or similar dress code.  We also would like to have some of our recent 8th grade graduates to help with the procession. Please contact Laura Sullivan, Director of Music and Worship, lsullivan@stalbert.org, if you would like to participate.

Have you heard about the National Eucharistic Revival?

You may have heard the term used around your parish recently, but what exactly is it?Recent studies have revealed the shocking statistic that less than one third of American Catholics believe that the Eucharist is the true Body and Blood of Jesus Christ.

In response to this crisis, Bishop Barron began working with his brother bishops on a solution. From these conversations, the National Eucharistic Revival was born.

Simply put, the National Eucharistic Revival is a movement by the US Conference of Catholic Bishops to restore understanding and devotion to the Real Presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist.

To support this revival, we made Bishop Barron's film series The Mass free to watch online!

Lectio: Eucharist

Discovering the Mass in the Old and the New Testament.
Through the Augustine Institute on FORMED

“Lamb of God”, “The Bread of Life,” “The Body and the Blood of Christ” . . . . these are phrases we know from the Mass. But do we understand what they mean in the greater and deeper context of Scripture and Church teaching? We will discover firsthand how Christ’s Body and Blood are integral and wondrous part of God’s plan for our salvation. Dr. Brant Pitre, acclaimed author and teacher digs down to biblical root of the Eucharist through its foreshadowing in the miraculous events of the Old Testament, the Gospels, and Apostolic teaching.

SOCIAL CONCERNS

Loaves & Fishes

June 3rd & 4th

This month’s collection will benefit the Saint Vincent de Paul Food Pantry. In 2022, with the price of groceries largely increasing, the SVDP Food Pantry served an average of more than 650 households monthly. Items of need are peanut butter, canned soup, canned fruit & vegetables, canned stew, canned fish/chicken, canned beans and boxed pasta & rice. Also needed are personal care items, like toothpaste, dish detergent, laundry detergent, and toilet paper. Please leave items at the back of church by noon on June 4th.

St. Vincent de Paul Society

As we celebrate the mystery of the Trinity we also realize the mystery of how much God loves and cares for us each day. Believing in this, our lives can then overflow in thanksgiving and praise.

During the Second Quarter, through your gifts, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul brought the love and care of Jesus to the poor by assisting 118 families, providing over $9,000 for utility and rent bills, etc. Thank You!

PASTORAL CARE

Markey’s Group

The next gathering for Markey’s Group will take place on Tuesday, June 20th at 5:00pm. We will be dining this month at Connors, located at 615 S. Hurstbourne Parkway. This will be the first trip to Connors for our group and we are looking forward to a new dining experience.

Markey’s Group is a gathering of individuals who have experienced the death of a spouse. We meet once a month at a local restaurant for good food and fun conversation. We always welcome new members. We will meet this month directly at the restaurant. If you would like more information or you plan to attend, please contact Mike Ahrens at (502) 836-7847 or michaelahrens93@yahoo.com. We ask that you call, text, or e-mail by Monday, June 19th so that we can insure a proper number for our reservation.
