November is the month the church sets aside specifically to honor and pray for those who have died. Every year on November 2nd the church celebrates the Feast of All Souls. It is a special day to remember those who have died and to pray for them. On Wednesday evening, November 2nd at 7:00 p.m. we will have a special Mass in honor of those who have been buried from our church since November of last year.
Families of our deceased parishioners are invited to attend as well as anyone who has lost a loved one in the last year. Indeed, all are invited to this special Mass to pray for all souls, trusting that God will hear and answer our prayers that the deceased know eternal light, happiness and peace.
At this Mass, names of the deceased from our parish are sung during a special Litany. Other names of those who have passed away since November, 2021 and whose funerals were held at other locations will be spoken during the Litany. For more information, contact Laura Sullivan, Director of Music and Worship, lsullivan@stalbert.org or 425-3940 ext. 148.
We will be celebrating the courageous men and women who have served—and are serving—our country at St. Albert the Great’s Veterans Day Mass at 9:25am on Friday, Nov. 11. We invite all veterans and current service men and women to attend our Veteran’s Day Mass, planned by St. Albert the Great Parish School’s 8th Grade.
Our parish will take up the Collection for the Archdiocese for the Military Services, USA (AMS) November 5-6. This special collection is approved by the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops to be taken up every three years. The AMS provides pastoral care to Catholic men and women serving in the U.S. Armed Forces, enrolled at a U.S. Military Academy, being treated as a patient at any of the 153 U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, or who work for the federal government beyond U.S. borders — including those from our own parish and Archdiocese. The AMS does not receive any funding from the government or military and has no parishes from which to receive a weekly assessment. To learn more, go to www.milarch.org/nationalcollection.

In the Gospel today, Zacchaeus accepts our Lord joyfully; and the sign of his acceptance is his open house and his resolution to give half of his goods to the poor.
On October 29 & 30 there will be a collection for St. Vincent de Paul. Through your gift you also show your acceptance of our Lord by joyfully sharing your goods with your neighbor who is hungry, hopeless, alone and frightened.
THANK YOU to our St. Albert family for helping us completely fill the moving truck with donations for the Catholic Charities Refugee Program. The following volunteers helped make this collection possible: Mike and Peggy Parrino, Jenny Steer, Marisa Castigliano, and Denis and Cathy Roux. And a special acknowledgment to Jack Russell for initiating the donation drive over 15 years ago!
In matters of public policy that are not tied to either candidate or party, the church is both legally permitted and duty bound to speak... especially when those policies concern the dignity of life.
On November 8th, Kentuckians will go to the polls once again. One of the choices facing them this year are two proposed amendments to our State Constitution. The second of these is of paramount importance, as it will explicitly affirm that the Kentucky Constitution contains no right to either abortion or its government funding.
The Kentucky Catholic Bishops are therefore strongly encouraging all Kentuckians to go to the polls on election day this year, find its place on the ballot and vote ‘YES’ for Amendment #2. Vote ‘YES’ for Life.
As a reminder, the Catholic Conference of Kentucky policy regarding elections does not allow parishes to distribute materials on parish property, through email, or in conjunction with church activities, unless they have been published by the USCCB. This applies to materials from other Catholic entities, since they may not cover the full range of Catholic social doctrine of all human life issues including abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty, and the violence of war.
