PARISH POST
SEPTEMBER 29 - OCTOBER 5, 2022
our mission: TO INSPIRE PEOPLE TO LOVE, SERVE, AND KNOW GOD AND ONE ANOTHER.
In This Issue:
WORSHIP
Blessing of The Animals
Deacon Mark Preischel will conduct a service of the Blessing of the Animals on Sunday, October 2nd at 4:00 p.m. in front of the church. Bring your pets of all shapes and sizes for this blessing which takes place annually close to the Feast day of St. Francis of Assisi, patron saint of animals and ecology.
Choir News
At the 10:30 Mass this weekend the Choir will sing a piece called “I Believe”. The text is a portion of a poem about faith/belief by a Jewish WWII prisoner in a Nazi concentration camp in Cologne, Germany. Here is the full poem.
“I believe in the sun even when it is not shining and I believe in love, even when there’s no one there. And I believe in God, even when he is silent.
I believe through any trial, there is always a way but sometimes in this suffering and hopeless despair my heart cries for shelter, to know someone’s there. But a voice rises within me, saying hold on my child, I’ll give you strength, I’ll give you hope. Just stay a little while.
I believe in the sun even when it is not shining and I believe in love even when there’s no one there. But I believe in God even when he is silent. I believe through any trial there is always a way.
May there someday be sunshine
May there someday be happiness
May there someday be love
May there someday be peace….”
Respect Life Month
During the month of October the church celebrates Respect Life Month. We are asked to spend time in reflection and pray for a true cultivation of respect for life at all stages. Created as we are in God’s own image we should build a world where human life is always loved and defended. In the homily of his inaugural Mass, Pope Benedict XVI said, “Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary.”
The sacredness of life is violated when the life of the unborn is threatened; when children live in fear, poverty, hunger and abuse; when the spiritual, physical and emotional needs of the elderly and disabled are neglected; and when millions who live in refugee camps, in prison, in war zones and in disease are deprived of their God-given human dignity.
Month of the Holy Rosary
October is also known as the Month of the Holy Rosary and October 7th is the Memorial for Our Lady of the Rosary.
The rosary is a tool that helps us reflect on the life, death and resurrection of Christ. In a homily given on the feast of the Assumption, Pope Francis reminds us of the importance of praying the Rosary. He focuses on three words: Struggle, Resurrection, and Hope.
The first term, according to Pope Francis, addresses the inherent struggle between good and evil, and how Our Lady plays an important role in guiding the world along this struggle. Mary joins us, she fights at our side. She supports Christians in the fight against the forces of evil. Especially through prayer, through the rosary.
The Pope continued saying that Our Lady had shared in the struggles of her Son, Jesus Christ. She suffered along with him, and so when Jesus resurrected, she was also given redemption. Because of her suffering and redemption, Our Lady is also the most important image of hope. She is close to those who suffer throughout the world and she provides them the hope to overcome their struggle. It is not too late to develop a new habit and make an effort to pray the rosary regularly. May Mary always be our life, our sweetness and our hope.
Ministers of Hospitality Needed!
We will resume passing the collection basket at the 5 p.m. and 10:30 a.m. Masses beginning the weekend of October 1st & 2nd . Because of this, we are in need of more Ministers of Hospitality. At the present time, we will not be passing the basket at the 8a.m. Mass since we do not have enough Ministers of Hospitality for that Mass.
This is a great ministry for families to serve together or for individuals. For more information or to sign up for this ministry, contact Laura Sullivan, Director of Music & Worship at 425-3940 ext. 148 or lsullivan@stalbert.org.

YES for Life
In matters of public policy that are not tied to either candidate or party, the church is both legally permitted and duty bound to speak... especially when those policies concern the dignity of life.
On November 8th, Kentuckians will go to the polls once again. One of the choices facing them this year are two proposed amendments to our State Constitution. The second of these is of paramount importance, as it will explicitly affirm that the Kentucky Constitution contains no right to either abortion or its government funding.
The Kentucky Catholic Bishops are therefore strongly encouraging all Kentuckians to go to the polls on election day this year, find its place on the ballot and vote ‘YES’ for Amendment #2. Vote ‘YES’ for Life.
As a reminder, the Catholic Conference of Kentucky policy regarding elections does not allow parishes to distribute materials on parish property, through email, or in conjunction with church activities, unless they have been published by the USCCB. This applies to materials from other Catholic entities, since they may not cover the full range of Catholic social doctrine of all human life issues including abortion, euthanasia, the death penalty, and the violence of war.
Thank Your for Your Stewardship
St. Albert’s Loaves and Fishes Ministry supports five food pantries— Sr. Visitor, St. Vincent DePaul, Schumann Center, St. Ignatius and Eastern Area Community Ministries.
We are proud to share with you that the parish is donating a one time financial “gift” of $50,000 to be shared among these organizations we have been committed to over the years. The funds are to be designated for food only (no operational expenses).
The Record featured an article on the donation, along with a challenge to other parishes to do the same. Check out the article below.
