WORSHIP
Fasting and Abstinence
On Good Friday, fasting is obligatory for all who have completed their 18th year and have not yet reached their 60th year. Fasting allows a person to eat one full meal. Two smaller meals may be taken, not to equal one full meal. Abstinence (from meat) is obligatory for all who have reached their 14th year. If possible, the fast on Good Friday is continued until the Easter Vigil as the “paschal fast” to honor the suffering and death of the Lord Jesus, and to prepare ourselves to celebrate more readily his Resurrection.
The parish office will close at 3pm on Good Friday so the staff can attend the Good Friday Liturgy.

Prayers and the rosary will be lead by St. Albert the Great students and members of the Serra Club which is an organization dedicated to promoting and fostering religious vocations.
Feast of the Divine Mercy
Divine Mercy Sunday is celebrated on the Second Sunday of Easter. The Second Sunday of Easter completes the Octave (8 day celebration) of Easter and the readings and prayer texts highlight the mystery of divine compassion that underlies the Church’s Easter faith.
The origins of Divine Mercy Sunday date back to St. Faustina (1905-1938) who reported having visions of Jesus and conversations with him. In one of the visions Jesus shared that "Humanity will never find peace until it turns with trust to Divine Mercy." Divine Mercy is the Easter gift that the Church receives from the risen Christ and offers to humanity.
Jesus asked that the Feast of the Divine Mercy be preceded by a Novena to the Divine Mercy which begins on Good Friday. He gave St. Faustina an intention to pray for on each day of the Novena. “On each day of the novena you will bring to My heart a different group of souls and you will immerse them in this ocean of My mercy…. On each day you will beg My Father, on the strength of My passion, for the graces for these souls.”
Please see the link for the complete prayers and intentions for the Divine Mercy Chaplet. Rosary beads can be used to keep track of the prayers. https://saintmichael.ca/wp-content/uploads/2018/03/divine-mercy-novena.pdf
In addition, St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church will feature a different sung version of the chaplet beginning Good Friday (April 7th) through Divine Mercy Sunday (April 16th) at 1pm on their SMM Facebook and YouTube. Dr. Holly Smith has recorded 10 different musical arrangements of the Chaplet, at 10 different area churches, with musicians from around the Archdiocese. The sung chaplet for Thursday, April 13 was recorded at St. Albert the Great and features Dr. Holly Smith and Emileigh Ledgerwood accompanied by Laura Sullivan.
St. Margaret Mary will also be offering a Holy Hour on Divine Mercy Sunday (April 16th) following the Noon Mass until 2pm. The Chaplet of Divine Mercy will be chanted around 1:30pm and will conclude with Benediction.
