PARISH SCHOOL
Pennies for Ukraine!
St. Albert the Great Parish School Student Council organized a school-wide penny challenge called "Pennies for Peace" to benefit Ukraine. Tuesday, March 22 through Thursday, March 24th students were encouraged to bring in money for Catholic Relief Services to provide safe shelter, hot meals, hygiene supplies, fuel to keep warm, transport to safe areas, counseling support, and more to the people of Ukraine.
During this penny challenge, the homerooms of each grade competed with each other to see which homeroom could contribute the most money. Our winning homeroom brought in $877.29. In just 3 days, St. Albert the Great Parish School collected $6,002.78!!
We also took part in "Pause & Pray" each day during the week of March 21st. A Student Council representative led the school in prayer for the Ukrainian people. A prayer of peace was read, followed by an additional all-school prayer.
COMMUNITY
April is Child Abuse Prevention Month.
The Church is the body of Christ. All members are linked to one another, and all have the responsibility to ensure the safety of children in parishes, schools, families, and local communities. We can do this by:
1) Developing appropriate and loving relationships with our children.
2) Teaching our children safety and healthy boundaries.
3) Knowing who has access to our children.
4) Learning the warning signs of abuse.
5) Reporting abuse to the appropriate authorities.
For more information about sexual abuse policies, safe environment programming, reporting, and other resources, see www.archlou.org/restoringtrust.
