Immaculate Mary, assumed into heaven, teach us to trust in God’s plan the way you did. Do not let us fear obstacles or uncertainties. Inspire us and pray for us today, as we celebrate your Assumption. Amen
We had several staff members attend the National Eucharistic Congress. They will be sharing some of their thoughts and experiences about this awe inspiring event with us over the next few weeks.
I’ve always loved the Liturgical season of Easter. So much hope and joy abound in rejoicing in the great gift of Jesus’ life, death, and resurrection. I love hearing the readings from the Acts of the Apostles. I marvel at the testimonies of the disciples and how the early church gained new members exponentially because of early believers’ testimonies. I feel that I had a taste of this excitement and joy when I attended the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis.... Read the entire reflection from Laura Sullivan, our Director of Music & Worship, below.
I feel that I had a taste of this excitement and joy when I attended the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis. The Spirit was alive and flowing through the whole week. To pray and worship with 50,000+ Catholics was such a powerful experience. The foundation of each day was the Mass and Eucharistic Adoration with Benediction. We were also blessed to hear so many dynamic and motivational speakers. So much beauty abounded with wonderful music and prayer - all centered around the Eucharist. The witness of so many youth, priests, religious and laypeople was astounding. I felt such immense joy and peace that I was often moved to tears.
This monumental week was a wonderful reminder of the transformative power of the Eucharist – the great love that God has for each of us in the gift of his Son. God loves us in such a deep, powerful way. He desires to heal us, walk with us, to be present in all aspects of our lives. We just need to humble ourselves to admit we need a Savior!
Plans are underway to share some of what was heard and experienced at the Eucharistic Congress. We are currently in the 3rd year of the Eucharistic Revival, and this is the Year of Mission. We are all called to spread the Good News just as was done in the early church. At the Congress, Bishop Robert Barron pondered out loud what would happen in the United States if every Catholic adult brought one more person to the faith. As we read in the Acts of the Apostles “The church was being built up and walked in the fear of the Lord, and with the consolation of the Holy Spirit it grew in numbers”. The Church was made for Mission – let us share the Good News of Jesus Christ with others!
