U21 Hurling

Ballyduff 4-13 Cois Bhride 2-13

Our u21 campaign ended in disappointment as Ballyduff came through strongly in the second half to claim local bragging rights over a fancied Cois Bhride side in Dungarvan on Monday. Cois Bhride were the better team for much of the first half as goals from Stefan Tobin and Aaron Pratt were allied to points from Keegan O Farrell, Shane Roche, Padraig Aherne (2) and five from Rob O Sullivan left us in a commanding position coming towards the interval. However two goals from Ballyduff before halftime brought them right back into proceedings, leaving two points in it at the break 2-9 to 3-4. Ballyduff were much the stronger in the second half and added a further goal and nine points to their tally, Cois Bhride's only response being points from Rob O Sullivan (3) and one from Padraig Aherne.

Team: E Roche, M O Neill, S Lucey, K Frasier, E Lonergan, S Roche, J Murphy, A Pratt, T Daly, E Sheehan, R O Sullivan, P Aherne, K O Farrell, S Tobin. Sub D Hennessy for S Tobin.

It's already difficult enough to prepare and play properly without adding in the extra burden of toxicity from the previous two nights' entertainment, and by all accounts you wouldn't have needed MI5 to figure out who had rested up and who had been socialising in the very recent past. I'm aware of the dangers of looking back at previous teams with rose-tinted glasses but the idea that anyone from the 02 and 03 u21 teams would have been out the two nights before a championship match is pretty far-fetched.

Birthday Wishes

The man who scored three goals on Ger Cunningham hits the half century this week and so a happy birthday to the Legend that is Pat Murphy.
