Mick Tobin RIP
CLG Tulach an Iarainn recently mourned the passing of Mick Tobin, West End Tallow who was a former hurler, chairman and vice-president of the club and a great supporter of Tallow and Waterford teams on and off the field. Mick took over from Sonny Curley as full back on the Tallow team of the fifties and was a strong, uncompromising presence near the goal in a team that unfortunately wasn't that successful. Sonny and Mick were both hauliers and truck drivers and were well known to provide transport for several team members on the back of a lorry to matches, a move that would have the health and safety brigade having minor heart attacks nowadays. He then took over as chairman of the club in tandem with his brother-in-law Roger Ryan and later served as a club vice-president until his death. Always willing to talk hurling whether it was night or day, he will be sadly missed by all in Tallow. Ar dheis De for raibh a anam.
