Tallow 1-10 Affane 4-5

In an entertaining game played in blustery conditions in Lismore last Sunday, Affane took full advantage of a strong breeze to put two goals and five points on the scoreboard in the first half. A goal from Donnacha Mulcahy and three points from the irrepressible Paul O Brien left five points between the team at the break.

After the restart Mikey Curley narrowed the gap to two points with three points of his own. Affane showed their adeptness at getting goals when they scored against the run of play to put the brakes on the Talow revival. However we renewed our assault on the Affane lines, enjoying ample possession. Mikey added a brace of points before Kieran Geary and Thomas Ryan pointed to leave us within touching distance of the Affane men with time running out. A breakout from the Affane defence led them all the way up the field to get the match-clinching goal and give them a clear four-point margin.

The Gathering

On the June Bank Holiday Weekend, Tallow will host a Gathering with Michael Prendergast, our club vice-president, the special guest of honour. At 8pm on Saturday June 1st the School Road will be named in his honour followed by a tribute evening in the Community Centre where he will be honoured for his services to the Irish community.
