Cois Bhride :

U21 Football Championship (B)

Cois Bhride 2-9 Ardmore 3-8

Heavy underfoot conditions were far from conducive to free flowing football but this nevertheless an entertaining closely fought championship encounter between Cois Bhride and Ardmore in Clashmore last Sunday. As the game went on and the pitch cut up players were finding it increasingly difficult to hold their footing but both sides battled gamely to the end.

It was evenly matched throughout. Ardmore held a slender 2 point lead at the break (1-6 to 1-4). Cois Bhride talisman Colm Roche was a constant threat and accounted for all our scores apart from a well taken point from Paudie Aherne.

Cois Bhride had the majority of possession early in the second half and points from Colm Roche and Jordan Henley had the sides level shortly after the restart. They dominated the third quarter but unfortunately this was not reflected on the scoreboard as a leaden ball and a heavy pitch stymied our scoring ability. Ardmore had a bit more fluency to their game and were always dangerous on the break. A couple of well taken goals put them in the driving seat. Cois Bhride battled back, but found it difficult to break down the blanket defence. They succeeded in reducing the deficit to 2 points before the final whistle. On balance you would have to say Ardmore were deserving winners. It was a spirited performance from our lads and they will have another day out.

Team: Jack Tobin, Alan Curley, Andrew O Riordan, Padraig Roche, William Hogan, Adam Crawford, Jake Neville, Jordan Henley (0-1), JP Lucy, Stefan Tobin, Paudie Aherne (0-1), Noel Condon, Eoin O Reilly, Colm Roche (2-7, 0-4f), Eddie Hynes, Alan Buckley, Billy Buckley, Edward O Neill.

U16 Football:

Our u16 football match scheduled for Tallow on Sunday morning didn’t take place as Stradbally were unable to travel due to weather conditions.

Last Man Standing

Another week that resembled Beechers Brook in the Aintree Grand National in Tallow Gaa Last Man Standing competition with 15 fallers in total.

Chelsea's failure to see out a win against Burnley with ten men left more than Jose Mourinho questioning the standard of refereeing ( a familiar feeling for most people who spent Saturday afternoon in Rathcormac)

Everton's dramatic late equaliser not only proved unlucky for 4 people who failed to enter a team and were assigned brave Leicester City but also meant that a further 4 were knocked out by choosing to believe that Everton would win.

Those knocked out are:

1. Declan Griffin

2.Denis Tobin

3.Eoin Reilly

4.Billy Henley

5.John Murray SNR

6. John Murray JNR ( not the best of weeks for the Murrays)

7. Agnes Geary

8. Michael McCormack

9. Jason Fox

10. Rick Gleasure ( Good news for Shaun O Sullivan who is the last man standing from his group)

11. Michael Curley ( the only Hurler to be knocked out this week)

12. Kathryn Coakley

13.Anthony Cannon

14.Ka Courtney

15.Maurice Murphy

There were 27 people left at the start of this week. There are now 12 competitors left in the fight to be the last man standing and claim the prize of €400.

1. Luke McCarthy

2. Jordan Henley

3. Sean Boland

4. David Coffey

5. Tom McSweeney

6. Alan Buckley

7. Robert Drohan

8. Bernard O Hara

9. Kieran Geary

10. Shaun O Sullivan

11. Eric Hickey

12. Audrey Sheehan - the sole surviving female. Can Audrey keep up the family tradition and show the lads how it's done?

Tune in next week for the answer to this question.
