U21 B Football

Tallow 1-6 Kilrossanty 0-11

Our u21 footballers were unlucky to go down to a good Kilrossanty side last Tuesday evening and it was a great effort from all the lads who togged out. We were unlucky not to score more goals with two decent chances just after halftime.

In the first half, we scored four points to Kilrossanty's eight with three coming from Stefan Tobin frees and one from play from the impressive Alan O Riordan. A Pedro Henrique goal brought us right back into it during the second half to add to two more points (one from play) from Stefan but, despite only scoring three points in that second half, Kilrossanty held out for the win.

Team: T Harker, W Hogan, Andrew O Riordan, Sean Curley, J Tobin, K Fraser, N Condon, R O Sulivan, R Beecher, S Tobin, Alan O Riordan, E Sheehan, P Henrique, B Buckley, M Aherne.

Subs A Pratt for B Buckley, M Schiebelreiter for M Aherne.

We had twenty three togged out for this game and the management would like to express their appreciation to the players for their commitment and effort to training and preparation for this game.

National League

Few enough people would have put bad money on Waterford travelling up to Galway on Sunday but the result and performance were as encouraging as they were surprising. While we are not under any illusions as to how good we are, the fact is that Clare are a physical, competitive team in the classic Davy Fitz mode. The Waterford style has always been to move the ball and yourself quickly and this, if done properly, should always be effective against a strong team like Clare. It was also great to see Brian O Halloran back in a Waterford jersey as there was a fear that his adult hurling career could be stillborn due to the many injuries he suffered in the last two years. There still has to be a concern about our ability to win aerial ball in the forward line but the outlook is more hopeful than this time last week.

Interestingly, the start of the National League also marked the first occasion in over twenty years that a Waterford senior panel took its place without a Tallow representative.
