Junior Hurling

Expect a battle royale next Saturday evening August 25th at 7 pm in Ballyduff as we take on our neighbours Lismore in a must-win junior Western championship group game. With Lismore being a point ahead of us in the standings and having the edge in scoring average, defeat for us here would spell the end of the road in terms of our ambitions to reclaim our junior crown and we would appeal to all supporters to turn out to support our lads.

Lessons never learned

Watching the All Ireland semi final on Sunday it struck me that some people, despite mountains of evidence towering over them, just never learn. People still think that you can mix it with Kilkenny, that you can 'get under their skin', that if you get tough enough they will wilt. Even more laughable is the notion that, because the likes of Tommy Walsh, JJ and Noel Hickey stand under six feet, you can dominate them physically. You'd find it difficult, even if you searched through all the Olympic weightlifters you could lay your hands on, to come across three stronger men. What's even more amazing is that Tipp, two years ago, showed us how to beat them; with pace, movement, and above all keep the physical exchanges to what's neccessary
