Junior Football : Tallow 4-10 Geraldines 0-14

An outstanding second half performance in which we scored 3-8, saw our Junior Footballers claim their second win of the competition in Lismore last Sunday. We came into half time trailing by

1-02 to ten points and you would wonder if we could kick start a come back in the second half? Our goal in the first half was scored by Eoin Condon but we spurned two more in the first period. Although we played well in the first half this was not being reflected on the scoreboard. Nothing embodied our come back more in the second half more than Tommy Daly. A half time substitute he fundamentally

altered the outcome with a goal on his introduction. Darah added another shortly after and our tail was up. Any vestige of our first half performance was eroded fast and Jordan had our third major. Jordan , Ryan and Ian had powerful second half performance's and they firmly turned the pendulum in our favor. 'Gooch' added two points to his goal . Confidence was high now and with Jordan Henley running the show with his endless runs from midfield, we ubegan to show the calibre of football we know these lads are capable of. We moved the ball well, creating space and picking the right time to shoot. We kicked some great points in the second half from different angles and ended up with 9 different scorers. The Kerry training is definitely paying dividends. Our final goal came when our two subs Mikey Tobin and Mark Stewart combined. A good ball in from Ryan Grey found Mikey in space. Mikey took on two defenders and while we were all claiming a penalty, Mikey managed to get off a shot which the keeper parried straight to Mark who made no mistake.

The win that would have delighted our management of Seán, Dinny and Stephen. We have one final game left against Kilgobnet to determine who we play in the knockout phase. But after this performance we will take the field next day with no fear.

Team: Michael Curley, Alan Curley, Jake Neville, Robbie Geary, Jake Beecher, Kieran Fraser, Kevin Henley (0-1), Jordan Henley (0-1), Bob McCarthy, Ian Beecher (0-1), Ryan Grey (0-2), Shaun O'Sullivan, Darah Buckley (1-1), Eoin Condon (1-0), Donnchadh Mulcahy(0-1). Subs: Tommy Daly (1-2) ht for D Mulcahy, Dean Beecher for K Henley, Mikey Tobin for E Condon & Mark Stewart (1-0) for S O'Sullivan.

CLG Tulach an Iarainn extends deepest sympathy to the family of Jack McGrath and the Brickey Rangers club.Ar dheis Dé go raibh a hanam.

Value for Money : With the increase in prices for the semi final and finals this year , I wonder why hasn't the GAA added more value for supporters? Mayo were on the road for eight to nine weeks in a row and yet their fans are expected to pay full price on all tickets. There should be a value card for discounts on all games. The season tickets caters for the league but they should have one for the championship. The attendance at the semi final for Tyrone Kerry and the dominance of Dublin showed that it could have been played elsewhere. Add in the cost and you won't increase attendences over the next few years.
