D-Day

The Kilkenny natives are are going through a cocktail of fear and resignation as next Saturday approaches and Tipperary ride quietly into town. Most of them were not too surprised at Dublin mowing down their heroes in a matter-of-fact manner but if Tipp come to their own patch and dominate them, they might not be so forgiving. One of the many reasons for Kilkenny's success has been the relentless application of the highest standards and the least possible room for sentiment and this will be tested to the full if the Premier County make off with a victory. There undoubtedly seems to be a lethargy about Kilkenny's hurling recently but nothing concentrates the mind like a hanging and I'd be surprised if there isn't a kick in them yet.

Waterford lie in wait for the winners and a game of this intensity and skill level will surely be of benefit to our young team. Realistically it's difficult to see Waterford beating either team yet if they were playing the winners of Limerick and Dublin would we be more confident?
