    • What you will practice:Tabs

Directions:

1. Click the show/hide special character.

    • Essential Question: Why is it important to understand the basics of creating a word document?

    • Why is it important to be able to change margin sizes, styles, paragraph spacing, etc?

    • How can I document research and summarize the material in my own words?

2. Enter the text: Information Technology and hit enter

3. Use parenthesis and type percent of the total budget and hit enter twice.

4. Select Information technology expenditures and (percent of total budget)

5. Change the font and size to Times New Roman 18 and center align.

6. Change the text color to blue. Keep your text selected.

7. Go to the paragraph part of the ribbon and put a border around your title.

8. Click at the bottom where you last hit enter and type the following information.

    • Application Development: 20.2%

    • Mainframe Support: 11.1%

    • Server Maintenance: 4.9

    • Audio/Visual Transmission: 2.2%

    • Wide Area Network: 3.4%

    • Local Area Network: 1.3%

    • Personal Computer/Printer: 5.2

    • Budgeted Salary/Fringes: 35.3

    • IT Security: 16.2%

9. Select Your budget information and click the paragraph tool. At the bottom left click tabs. Stop position is 3.5 and clicks Decimal.

10. Click your insert point in front of each of the percentage numbers and hit tab. The numbers will not only align at 3.5 inches from the left margin but line up perfectly along the decimal points.

11. Keep special characters turned on so you can see the single tab being used to create the space.

12. Save your work as Activity 4 Your last name.

13. Hand into Haiku.
