Day 1 Agenda

What is Energy?

  • Pair up and define energy

  • Share definitions

Visit website and take notes

  • Different Types of Energy

  • Each section should have its own set of notes

    • What is energy

    • Food

    • Electrical

    • Fossil Fuel

    • Work = Force X Distance

    • Laws of Conservation of Energy

    • Units for Measuring Energy and Power

  • Some sections may require more notes than others

  • Take notes that YOU feel are important or main ideas and make sense to you

  • Paraphrase when needed

  • Be ready for one group member to present to the class.

Day 2 Agenda

Continue/Finish Notes from website

Look through other sections

  • Different Forms of Energy

  • Properties of Energy

  • What are Atoms

  • Magnets and Electricity

  • How Electricity is Made

  • Electricity from Power Station to Us

    • Take simple notes and define the main concepts and ideas for each of those sections

    • Be prepared to share with the class your findings and what you understand

    • Record any questions or areas of confusion as well

    • Be ready for one group member to present to the class.

Day 3 Agenda

Finish/Go over notes from website

  • What is energy?

  • Where does it come from?

  • How do we get it?

  • What is the difference between renewable and nonrenewable sources?

Watch quick videos to summarize and reinforce major concepts

Take a look at some countries and locations with little/no energy/electricity sources

Day 4 Agenda

Revisit website to learn about less fortunate locations

Identify daily struggles people living there would encounter

  • How would you survive in those conditions?

  • What sacrifices would you be willing to/have to make?

  • What changes in your lifestyle would be made?

Begin looking at possible solutions to provide energy and electricity

  • What would energy sources fit these environments?

  • How would the energy be transferred from the source to the people?

Day 5 Agenda Camp Fire

Mr. French will join your group and will expect your table to explain your findings.

What are the different sources of energy?

How can they be used/introduced into certain environments and locations that lack energy/electricity?

  • Can any energy source be implemented in any environment?

  • Do some energy sources fit better in one type of environment/location than another?

What is the process of transmitting energy from the source to the people?

Hand in a Personal Reflection. A four-sentence paragraph on what you learned.
