Essential Questions:

Why is understanding how to use the internet, as well as ethical implications on the internet important?

Lesson Essential Questions:

• What are some of the dangers associated with using the internet?

• How Can we be safe and ethical cyber citizens?

The anonymity of the Internet offers the perfect opportunity for kids to spread rumors, insult another person, or trick someone into revealing personal information and then spreading it. These are all examples of Cyber Bullying, an online version of old-fashioned school-yard bullying.

Experts believe that cyberbullying is more prevalent because it is easier for kids to bully using comments, text, email, or pictures while sitting alone behind a computer than when facing the child and seeing his/her reaction to the bullying. Cyberbullying also includes the use of cell phones to harass or bully others.

Your Assignment:

Your Task: Create a Prezi presentation with the following:

· 5 Pros of using social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

· 5 Cons of using social networking sites (Facebook, Twitter, etc.)

· Summarize (DO NOT COPY AND PASTE) a recent cyberbullying article in the news from New York state

· Top 10 List for avoiding cyberbullying

· At least 2-3 pictures

· Be Sure to Cite your sources!!
