I can:

  • Changing font and size

Essential Question:

  • Why is it important to understand the basics of creating a word processing document?

  • Why is it important to be able to change margin sizes, styles, paragraph spacing, etc?

  • How can I document research and summarize the material in my own words?

Directions:

1. Open up a word processing document

2. Insert a picture from clip art that represents your business. (You can use two pictures if you choose.) They must be simple, small, and from the creative commons list.

3. Once the picture is inserted, click your picture and go to text wrapping-square on the ribbon. It might also be next to the picture. Now you can re-size your picture.

  • Changing alignment

  • Create a Letter Head

  • Typing using word wrap (soft return)

  • Type a professional letter using Block letter format.

4. At no point should you change the size or font of your text. At the top of your document enter the information from your business card. Your name, company name, address, city, state, zip code, phone number, and e-mail address.

5. Now you are going to type a block style business letter. Return 3 times and type today’s date.

6. Return 3 more times and type the name and address of the person you are sending the letter to (you can make it up). For example.

Barack Obama

1600 Pennsylvania Ave.

Washington, DC 20002

7. Return 3 times and begin your letter. For example:

Dear President Obama,

8. Write a short letter explaining a little bit about your business. Use the tab key to intent before you paragraphs. A good format is:

Two sentences about what your business is.

Four sentences about why your writing a letter

Two sentences about what you want the recipient to do.

Be creative. This is a fictional letter but should be taken seriously.

9. Return two times when you are done writing the letter. Type:

Sincerely,

Your name
