Objective: Students will create a personal profile by using formats, tabs, page setup and fonts.

I can:

Change the orientation of my page.

Create a table.

Direction:

1. Open a new Word document. Go to the Page Layout tab at the top and select Orientation. Choose Landscape. This will turn your paper sideways.

2. In the Page Layout Tab, select Margins. Choose the one called Narrow, where all of the margins are 0.5”.

3. In the Home Tab, go to the section named Paragraph. Choose the symbol called Line and Paragraph Spacing, or click on the menu arrow to open the paragraph menu. Change the spacing 1.15. Also turn on a special character. This will help you see how many times you hit tab, space, and enter.

4. In the Home Tab, choose Times New Roman font, and size 18. On the first line of the page, type “Personal Profile”. Change it to Bold.

5. Hit Enter twice, and type “Name:” Change it back so it is not Bold. Then, hit Tab key six times. Type “Birthday:” Then, hit Tab key five times, and type “Birthplace:”

6. Hit Enter once and type your own name, birthday, and birthplace. After typing each one, be sure to use the Tab key to move the cursor over to the right so that it lines up under the word above it.

7. After typing your birthplace hit Enter twice. Type “Hair color:”, “Height:”, and “Eye color:”. Use the Tab key to line things up with the words above them on the page.

8. Hit Enter once and type your own hair color, height, and eye color.

9. Hit Enter twice. Type “Grade”. Then, hit Tab three times. Type “School”. Hit Tab three times. Type “Teacher”. Hit Tab three times. Type “Event”. Go back and highlight this entire line. Change the text to Bold and Underline it.

10. Type a chart like on the example, listing all grades from Kindergarten to Sixth. Fill in your schools, teachers, and one or two short events for each grade. This should not be bold or underlined. If you truly don't remember, its tragic. Make up a school appropriate name and event.

11. At the bottom of the page, you will type a description of yourself that is exactly fifty words. To find out how many words you have typed, highlight all of the words and go to the Review Tab at the top. In the Proofing section on the left of the Ribbon, select the symbol that is called Word Count. It will tell you how many words you have selected.

Save as “Activity 9” and hand it into Haiku
