Fast Food Fun

This project you will investigate the nutritional value of your favorite fast foods. You will then put this information into an Excel spreadsheet and then evaluate your food choices.First, you need to decide which fast food restaurant you will visit. Then plan three meals with a sandwich, salad or another main dish, a side dish (French fries, fruit, etc.), a drink, and a dessert. Your three meals are Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. You can also evaluate one or more of their combo meals. In a Google search type the name of the restaurant and nutrition. Put this information on your fast food worksheet. Many companies are required to publish the nutritional facts about their food online, on the packaging, and even on the menu. For each item on your menu, record the total calories and the calories from fat as well as the sodium, carbohydrates, and sugar. When you have all of your information on your worksheet open up an Excel spreadsheet. 1. In cell B1 write calories. In cell C1 write calories from fat, D 1 –sodium, E1 – carbs, F1 – sugar.

2. In cell A 2 write your first food choice. In cell A3 write your next food choice. Continue down column A listing all of your foods. Add to your listing the location your food came from.

3. Fill in the rest of your data by researching the information from the web pages.

MyFitnessPal Is a good page to go to for help in locating your information.

4. Create a hyperlink to the web page you used in the G column. Go to the Insert Tab and look for the icon.

5. Click on the cell below your last calorie entry. Go to formula –autosum—then press enter to see how many total calories are in the total meals. Do the same with the other columns.

6. Insert a header and put Activity 3 Your name.

7. Create a column chart that will show the calories and calories from fat from your food choices. Be sure to highlight only the foods, calories, and calories from fat before you insert the chart.

8. Move the chart so both the data and the chart can be seen.

9. Assuming you burn 380 calorie jogging for an hour. Your body needs 2000 calories each day to maintain good health. In Cell A13 type Hours Jogging needed to burn extra Calories. in Cell A14 type Calories over 2000. Calculate a formula that shows in B14 the number of calories you ingested over 2000.
