Lesson Essential Question:

• How can spreadsheets be used to communicate data effectively?

Directions:

1. Open Microsoft Excel 2013 Save your Workbook as Excel Final

2. In the blank spreadsheet file enter the text that appears below.

3. Enter your name in cell C5.

4. Enter the date in Cell C6.

5. Change the cell D9 to Rate/Hour.

6. Change the cell E9 to Subtotal.

7. Change the cell D18 to Cost/Items.

8. Change the cell E18 to Subtotal.

9. Enter the formulas and solve!

-Enter the formulas in cells E10:E14 (multiple hours by rate) and cells E19:E22 (multiply the quantity by price).

- The formula should look like this: =C10*D10

-Enter formulas for all subtotals. (cells E15 & E23) Remember auto sum and click the numbers you need added to the formula.

-Total Estimate is the sum of E15 and E23. You can hold down the Ctrl button while you click the two subtotals.

10. Change the date formatting in cell C6 to mm/dd/yyyy.

11. Change the formatting of cells D10:D15, D19:D23 to Currency and two Decimal places. Do the same for cells E10:E15, E19:E23 and for the cell C25.

12. Save as Excel Final if you havent already and turn in to Edmodo
