Jonah has a new grandchild! Rachel Anastasia Porter weighed in at 7lb 6oz this afternoon. Mother and baby are both doing well – as I’m obliged to say! I think that Nathan is a touch disappointed that she didn’t wait for another two days, so that she would have shared his birthday, but, as I told him when he rang, that’s’ the sort of thing that could create all sorts of problems down the line, especially if they have more kids. After all, they can’t all have the same birthday as Dad, which means that someone will have an excuse to get peeved, either because they do or because they don’t.
Jonah’s first observation was that it’s good that it’s a girl because at least that means that they won’t need to decide what their stance is on circumcision. I’m sure that Nathan and Georgia will have given due consideration to how their children are going to be brought up and it isn’t any of our business.
