We had the first useful amount of rain of the Spring today. Mind you, there was plenty of it about earlier in the year well before we had seed sown and young plants gasping for water! It feels like an age since the headlines were all about homes and businesses being flooded. Now there’s only one subject in the news bulletins: COVID-19 and speculation on when the lockdown might end, or at least be eased a little. Aunty Dot’s death brought the pandemic suddenly closer to home for a while, but now the daily sameness is starting to make that recede in our minds. After all, she was very old and we’d been expecting to lose her for years now. No-one else that we know personally has died. I’m not sure even that any of them have had the virus, although a few of Jonah’s police colleagues have had to take time off self-isolating because of symptoms. All being well, any more of them will be tested properly now that there’s supposed to be enough testing capacity for all Key Workers. Mind you, I’ll believe that when I see it!
