We had a long Zoom meeting with Wayne and Dean and the boys, trying to give them something to distract them from worrying about their Granddad and the rest of their birth family. Jonah read them part of his memoir, which he's calling "Crowd of Witnesses". Carl seemed quite interested and asked lots of questions, but Harry is still very subdued. Dean reckons he feels guilty for not telling them that Carl was anxious about their Granddad getting COVID-19. He thinks it's his fault that Carl went missing overnight. We've all offered to help with the home schooling. I'm not sure that we're any better qualified than Wayne and Dean, but at least it will give the boys a bit more variety having us to talk to.
In exchange, Dean has offered to do our shopping for us. Since Jonah was declared to be in hte high risk category, we haven't liked to risk going to the supermarket in case we brought the virus back with us, so we've been relying on queuing for home delivery slots and an occasional food parcel from Father Damien. Stan and Sylvia have plenty of friends from church, fortunately, so they've been catered for ever since we stopped shopping for them. We feel rather frauds, staying at home, sunning ourselves in the garden and generally getting on with life, while other people are waiting on us hand and foot, but we just can't take the risk with Jonah's health. Let's hope that this NHS tracking app that they launched on the Isle of Wight yesterday is as good as it's cracked up to be so that some of the lock-down restrictions can be lifted soon!
