It was Kenny’s funeral today. Gavin seems to have given way to all sides and allowed it to become a bit of a three ring circus! I suppose at least that means everyone has had their chance to do something and he doesn’t have the prospect of some elaborate memorial service later on hanging over him and weighing on his mind. It took place at the church that hosts Kenny’s scout troop and the vicar there led the service and did the eulogy. The scouts formed a guard of honour and four police officers carried the coffin. The wreaths included a scout and one depicting a police helmet badge.

Gavin looked like a fish out of water. I think the only part where he felt at ease was when he was talking to some of his homeless friends who turned up out of the blue. I think they were intending to creep away without being noticed, but Gavin insisted on them sharing the refreshments that the scouts organised in the church hall and then gave them all the leftovers to take away with them.
