Wayne has been making progress with his rehabilitation. He's now able to walk with a frame and has also mastered an electric wheelchair (one of the lightweight indoor ones that Design Ability makes). His main mobility problem is foot drop in his right ankle. The physio says that she wants him to persevere for a bit longer before she refers him to the orthotics department to have a support fitted. Movement in his right arm and hand are also improving, but his fine motor skils are still very haphazard. The biggest worry is his speech. He's been having therapy, but you can see how frustrated he gets knowng what he wants to say, but just not managing to find the right words or not being able to string them together into meaningful sentences. We keep reminding ourselves that it's still early days ...
