Aunty Dot's funeral has been fixed for Wednesday afternoon at Springwood Crematorium. Families are being encouraged to have funerals as soon as possible after the body has been released. The death certificate gives pneumonia following COVID-19 infection as the cause of death. Aunty Dot was never tested, but it seems a reasonable assumption that she had the virus. The Council has put a limit of 10 on the number of mourners who can attend. After a lot of discussion among family members, we've decided that Joey and James will go, but Ruth will stay away in order to shield her mother, who is in her nineties with high blood pressure and hence considered high risk for COVID-19. Chloe and her partner both work in the NHS but because they're at Alder Hey and not involved in critical care they haven't had any contact with COVID-19 patients, so they're going to come too (if their shifts allow), but they'll have to keep 2m away from Joey and James. Dominic and Lucy have said they'll go, and Mariam and Ibrahim are coming with them. Ibrahim is the car driver, so he'll bring them all together and they'll be able to sit together in the crematorium chapel, because they're all from the same household. (I'm not sure how easy it will be to convince the crem officials of that!) The funeral director has been very sympathetic and helpful. He says that they'll organise for the service to be videoed, so that the rest of the family can watch later, and send copies of the order of service out to everyone too.
