It's Peter's birthday tomorrow. He'll be 69, so still young enough not to be threatened by the self-isolation rules that appear set to be imposed on the over 70's. Life feels quite surreal at the moment with advice on holding back the march of the corona virus changing daily, if not more often. Jonah is our biggest concern, because his spinal injury makes him susceptible to chest infections. He won't like it, but we'll probaby have to keep him at home soon. Meanwhile, we're making the most of what may be our last Sunday of freedom by going to early mass at St Cyprian's and then on to Cowley Road for the morning service. Ther was a much reduced congregation at St Syprian's. A lot of the early mass-goers are elderly and decided to stay at home. I can see Father Damien being busy during the week taking mass out to people in their homes - assuming that they're not frightened to let him in!
Stan is fulfilling his preaching appointment this morning and Sylvia says she'll be at Cowley Road for the service. Although they're both 80+ they're in generally good health (give or take a bit of osteo-arthritis) so they're probably OK to be mixing with other people, but how long that will last is anybody's guess. I can't help thinking that thigns will never be the same again after this.
