Another do-it-yourself Sunday! The Methodist circuit did another online service comprising text with embedded videos of one of the monisters reading the words and then giving a sermon. Father Damien streamed a solitary Mass from St Cyprian's. Even Jonah had to admit that the simple ceremonial of the Roman ritual lends itself better to online worship than a non-conformist hymn sandwich without the hymns! We did the hymns for ourselves afterwards.
Aunty Dot seems to be no better, which is worrying. However, she is still keeping in touch with the family using her iPad, which at least means that we would know if she was deteriorating significantly. Then, to make things worse, came the sad news that Tim Brooke-Taylor has died of COVID-19. He was part of all of our childhoods as well as being a stalwart on "I'm Sorry I Haven't a Clue" on the radio. Will they ressurect some of the Goodies episodes for his obituary, do you think? Or will this just be one of the first of many of our old heroes to go? After all, the young performers of the '60s and '70s must all be in the vulnerable category now.
