Mass went off OK this morning. We had a few of the older people who had to be reminded about keeping their distance and not wearing their face masks with their noses exposed, but over all people were reasonably well-behaved. At least the good weather meant that they could restrict their catching-up with friends they hadn’t seen for months outside in the gardens and car park.

After we got home, we watched the circuit online service and then set-to to try to tame the garden, which has been getting rather out-of-hand recently. When Peter went inside to get the lunch ready, he found Jonah busy on the phone. He’s been assigned a rather strange case: investigating some human remains that have turned up in the woods on Shotover Hill.

By a very strange coincidence, it was Dean’s puppy, Star, who made the discovery and Gavin Hughes who was the first officer on the scene. Gavin was up there visiting the place where they buried Kenny’s ashes and Wayne and Dean had taken the boys up there to play in the sandpit. Of course, Jonah was all for rushing up there right away to view the crime scene, but we managed to persuade him that he’d only be in the way of the SOCOs who are doing a fingertip search looking for more bones.
