Today is National Police Memorial Day. I've never really bothered with it before. Richard died before it was invented, and although he was killed on duty, it was essentially an accident. This year feels different, because it's so soon after Kenny Hughes was killed - deliberately and callously. I hope Gavin and Chrissie found it comforting. To be honest, I gave up on listening quite quickly. I don't like the was Boris talked about "brave police men and women" when he is just the last in a successino of Tory Prime Miniters who have imposed cutbacks. Then the stories from police families were presented against a background of "I vow to Thee my Country", which is a hymn that I just can't go along with. And then, there was Priti Patel talking about the "ultimate sacrifice" and then reading the beatitudes - hypocrisy upon hypocrisy!
Anyway, here's the website, so you can see for yourself.
