We're all feeling a bit numb after hearing the news about the custody sergeant shot dead in Croydon last night. Jonah has been very subdued all day. I suppose it brought back to him the time when he was shot in the neck. It's frightening to think that such a thing could happen within the custody suite at a police station, which is one place that you would think officers would be safe. It's difficult to imagine quite how the arresting officers failed to find he gun on the suspect when they searched him, and how he succeeded in getting it out of his trousers and shooting the sergeant when his hands were cuffed behind his back!
