Spicy Moong Dall

Prop;: 15; Cook: 45 (less with pressure cooker)

Wash and rinse

1/2c whole moong dall

Drain and place them in a suacepan with

2.5c water

salt to taste

chili powder to taste

1/2t turmeric

Boil, reduce heat, and cover. Simmer about 40 min. Or, in pressure cooker, cook about 5 min.

If you're using pressure cooker, add a little bit of oil to reduce boil=up and clogging of the pressure valve.

Quarter

2-3 ripe tomatoes

Finely chop

small piece fresh root ginger

and stir into the dal along with

1t dried mango powder

1/2t cumin

2-3 curry leaves

Stir to mix; cover and cook a few more minutes, and serve.
