Nasi Goreng

Prepare

   4 cups cooked rice

 

Make

   3 eggs

into one or two thin omelettes. Roll up and slice into thin strips and set aside

 

Shell

   8 oz prawns

 

Cut

   1 lb beef ("flank steak" works really well here!)

into thin strips, 1/4" x 1/2" x 3", more or less

 

Thinly slice

   6 spring onions

Chop

   2 medium onions

roughly and blend them to a paste in a blender or food  processor with

   2 cloves garlic

   1/4t trasi, dissolved in hot water

 

Heat

   3T oil

in a large frying pan or wok and fry the blended aromatics until lightly browned. Add

   (prawns)

   (beef)

and fry until cooked, stirring. Add

   2T more oil

and then stir in

   (rice)

   (spring onions)

 

Sprinkle with

   2T soy sauce

Serve on a platter; overlay with

  (omelette strips)

woven into a grid, and sprinkle with

   3T onion flakes

Surround with

   1 cucumber, slices

and other garnishes (cilantro?) as appropriate or seasonal.
