Guidelines in Moderating Comments
Comments are an incredibly valuable part of building and growing an engaged online community. But how do we keep healthy limits on our site while still promoting active and engaging conversation?
Here are some guidelines on publishing comments, deleting and managing them:
As a general rule, comments that include a question or other remark that begs a response should be addressed accordingly. Focus on higher priority comments that would be helpful to other users. Testimonials that can elevate our image should also be published.
Comments found on our sales page. It is important to note which page the comments are found. Sales pages are our avenue to explain our products to visitors and make them want to buy. Therefore, comments that are negative or derogatory towards our products should never, by any means, be published on our sales page. We should address the comment privately via email.
3. Support-related comments. Support-related comments should be addressed privately via email and not in the comments section. We do not want to encourage users to use that channel for support. Therefore, we should not publish any support-related comments.
4. Comments about exam-specific questions. This kind of comments should not be published. The user can be contacted privately via email about our policy.
5. Testimonials that are short and 'generic’ in nature. We do not have to publish testimonials when they are too short/generic, e.g. "Nice" "Good content." Publishing this type of comment will make the page load slowly.
6. Comments that are too short. Comments that are too short and do not have any value or are usually a response to another comment should not be published.
7. Comments that contain abusive language or threats. Offensive comments should never, in any way, be published. Nevertheless, we address their concerns via email.
8. Comments you are uncertain about. If you are uncertain if a comment should be published or not, it is best to leave the comment unpublished. For comments requiring Martin's response, please notify Rielle about them, and he will coordinate with Martin to ensure prompt response on the matter.
