Ingredients

    • ¾ head green cabbage, finely chopped
    • ¼ head red cabbage, finely chopped
    • 3½ carrots, grated
    • 1½ cups heavy mayonnaise
    • ½ cup white vinegar
    • ⅓ cup sugar
    • 1 T celery seeds
    • salt and pepper, to taste

To Prepare

Mix the cabbage and the carrots together. Whisk together all other ingredients separately. Stir the dressing into the cabbage and mix well. Refrigerate before serving.

Variations

Gray most commonly uses only a head of green cabbage (no red cabbage, no carrots). Gray also most commonly reduces all of the dressing ingredients by ⅓ (he prefers minimal mayonnaise).
